I want as many dogs as possible to be able to enjoy the best natural dog treats going - and that is why I sell JR Pet Product treats.

Why? Because I think they are the best, the ones I used to happily and confidently gave to Nancy during her lifetime, because JR Pet Products have the highest quality standards at the forefront of their treats.

So as an example I have compared some natural treat ingredients to JR's - but I won't say who the competitors are as that wouldn't be right.

1. Chicken Pate - ingredients - chicken 95%, chickpea flour 5%.
Luxury Pate for dugs Chicken - ingredients - 94% chicken, 4% rice flour, 2% vitamins and minerals.
JR Pet Products - Pure Chicken Pate - ingredients - 100% chicken.

2. Gourmet Salmon Cookies - ingredients - salmon 70%, sweet potato, potato flour, vegetable, glycerol , minerals.
Simply Meaty Salmon Coins - ingredients - 97% Salmon, tapioca.
JR Pet Products - Pure Salmon Coins - ingredients - 100% salmon.

So why does this matter to me? If your dog has a food alergy, or you are trying to find out which ingredients are upsetting your dog's stomach, JR's 100% single protein treats mean that if you want to give your dog a chicken/beef/duck/venison etc treat you know that you are only giving them chicken/beef/duck/venison etc, making it so easy to avoid foods that upset them.

The other products are still natural but may not be single protein which could be the difference between a happy tummy or an upset tummy for your fur baby.

Good Evening Everyone.
I was wondering if you were aware of one of the benefits of hydrotherapy that often gets overlooked?

Improved mental health! Yes dogs and probably cats get depressed - which is very sad. Either through age or injury at some point in our pet's lives they may not be able to enjoy the things they love the most - be that a lovely long walk, playing with other pets or owners or even self care. Just like us, they find this very depressing and can start to lose interest in doing anything at all.

Hydrotherapy can and does have very fast results in lifting depression in pets. It helps them to be able to do the things they used to love doing again, maybe not quite so energetically, bur doing it all the same. Owners will often tell us that for the first time in weeks/months/years their pet has the spark back in their eyes, that they are showing interest in play, interacting with other pets in the home, asking to go for walks. They just seem much happier.

It always makes me so happy to hear this, to think that I have helped improve a pet's life by doing something both them and I enjoy.

Can we help your pet? Call us now to find out how.

02/02/2025

I have received 2 emails asking about hydrotherapy for 2 different dogs. I have replied to the emails asking them to either provide me with a phone number I can contact them, or for them to call me on 0787 5901320.

I will not give out any important details, however, if you are the owner of ,or know someone in the area who has a dog by the name of a Rottweiler called Boo, or an owner called Carly who have sent me an email, please can you get in touch to let me know if you still require our service?

Many Thanks
Jeanette

Well Christmas is nearly here as is 2025! So I just wanted to take some time to say a massive Thank You to all our wonderful clients who have entrusted their precious fur babies to our care. Everything we do is aimed at making your pets lives as good as we can. Without you there would not be a Chesterfield Hydrotherapy Centre. I am blessed in the work I do and am eternally grateful to each and every owner who trusts me with their pet.

Every year I try to do better, I may not always achieve this but I continue and will always continue to do the best I can. No-one can ever be perfect (expect animals as they are perfect) and I am sure I will have upset some people this year and every year and will continue to do so, however, this is never my intention and I am truly sorry if anyone reading this is one of those.

This year has been difficult for everyone, what with all the problems with the economy and rising prices and I appreciate how hard it has been for you all. We try to make our prices affordable to as many people as possible, however, it is likely we will have to increase them in 2025, however I will keep any increase as low as possible.

My hopes and plans for 2025 is to continue serving the pet owners of Chesterfield, Derbyshire and the surrounding areas in the best way I possible can. I would love to introduce a new service to the practice - gait analysis using Tendiboots as I know this will benefit owners, vets and ourselves by providing electronic analysis of each patient's gait and any hint of lameness that might not be detectable by eye.

I would also love to find a qualified hydrotherapist to work at the centre, which would mean we could help more pets.

This year we will have help over 1200 sessions which is amazing. Hopefully in 2025 we can increase this to over 1500. However, I can only do it with the help of the pet owners of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire. So I guess that one is over to you all.

Finally everyone at the centre would like to wish all our current, future and past clients a Very Happy Christmas and A Healthy And Happy 2025

Are you or someone you know planning on getting a puppy this Christmas? Be it from a rescue or a breeder, puppies are full of energy, however, should not be over exercised as their joints are not fully formed and their bones are easy to damage. The wrong kind of exercise, too much exercise, even too little exercise can cause health problems that will affect them as puppies and adults and could prove very expensive. Getting a puppy in winter also brings difficulties - bad weather can mean outside conditions are best avoided, shorter daylight hours mean more time spent indoors, which could lead to a very energic puppy having a lot of excess energy to use up. One solution is swimming. Not outdoors in cold water, but inside in a heated, sanitised, safe hydrotherapy pool, with a trained professional hydrotherapist keeping them safe. Puppies can come for puppies swims once they have had the inoculation's, often around 12 weeks of age. Sessions are 121 unless we have a maximum of 4 puppies wanting to swimming and then we can start a Puppy Swim and Socialisation Group. If this is something you would be interested in after The Christmas Season please call us on 01246 384513.

Do you own a -
Cocker Spaniel, Maltese, Dachshund, Bulldog, Chihuahua, Golden Retriever, West Highland White, Yorkshire Terrier, French Bulldog or Dalmatian?

Then you probably already know that they are some of the top 15 dog breeds prone to allergies. And for these 10 breeds food can have an impact on managing these allergies.

For some breeds it is recommended they have a limited ingredient or grain free or single source protein diet. While such foods are fairly easy to buy (although they can be expensive), what about treats? How can you be sure of exactly what the treats you give your sensitive dog contain?

All the JR Pet Products treats we sell at the centre are grain and gluten free, and single source protein. Which means if your dogs can't have say beef, only the beef treats we sell contain beef, everything else is beef free. Meaning that it is easy for you to buy treats you know will suit your dogs needs.

You don't need to be a hydrotherapy client to take advantage of our great, fairly priced treats, DM me if you are interested.

Trust me - your dog will thank you 😺

Having run Chesterfield Hydrotherapy Referral Centre now for over 10 years (I didn't think I would get past year 1!), I still get asked how I got involved in hydrotherapy. Well -
before starting the centre I worked as a Management Accountant having qualified through my job back in the 1980's. I originally worked for Royal Mail staying with them in their many guises for 27 years. However, one outsourcing too many made me leave. I then thought about retraining to be a radiographer but that came to nothing. Then went back to what I knew and spent time working for South Yorkshire Passenger (something!, South Yorkshire Police, NHS Sheffield Public Health, outsourced to Sheffield Council. This one again proved one too many and I resigned. I really didn't enjoy working in management accountants.
So thought about it while planning my escape and thought running an dog play centre type thing in some woods sounded good. Somewhere dogs could be dogs! I could have bought the woods easily enough but I wanted to have a shelter in the woods for the dogs to rest in and keep dry in bad weather. Permanent building aren't allowed :-(
So I was sat watching TV and a program was on showing a couple who had just opened up a canine hydrotherapy centre. Something triggered in my mind - um we don't have one of those round here!
And the rest is history. Did some research, went on an introductory course, loved it and started looking at finding somewhere to open my centre.
To me I adore working with the lovely dogs all you owners have entrusted into my care - it is a real honour that you all do that.

It has brought me many many many hours of joy, love, laughs and cuddles. Many many new love friends, lots of worry and sleepless nights and loads of amazing experiences.

So thank you all for 10 years of the most wonderful time spent with the best dogs and 1 cat (barring my Nancy of course) ever.
