We wanted to say thank you to those of you who came to Nathan’s funeral on Monday. He was surrounded with so much love as we sent him onwards and it was there for all to feel.

It is said that we don’t remember days, we remember moments. And in his 51 years he created so many beautiful moments that will be forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.

Thank you for your messages, cards and kind gestures, we appreciate them all.

It was our last wish as a family that Nathan could spend his remaining time at home, with us where he felt safe and secure, in comforting surroundings being cared for by the ones he loved.

Without the help and support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice Community Team this wouldn’t have been possible for us. If you are able to donate please do so in memory of Nathan so that they can continue to support other families like ours.

Goodbye, our angel, we love you.

This December we have been given the opportunity by Pets at Home Rustington to collect donations at the till for the 4 weeks in December.
This is a huge fundraising opportunity for us, and always makes a big difference for our dogs.
People are always more engaged when they can see us in store making an effort to talk about our sanctuary.

So, can YOU give us 2-3 hours of your time on a Saturday or Sunday in December to hold a collection bucket, stand by our stall in the shop & sell some raffle tickets?
If you can then please comment below or send us a direct message and our lead volunteer Hazel will be in touch with more.

Our dogs need YOU! 🐾

🚨 URGENT APPEAL FOR MAX 🚨

We are searching for an urgent foster home for Max. He is a Staffordshire bull terrier x sharpei and is 8 years old.

Max is struggling with the kennel environment and is trying to overcome a recent skin allergy; but with his high stress levels, his rehabilitation is proving very difficult and delaying the healing process here at the centre.

🐾 We are looking for someone who is home most of the day to help administer medication.

🐾 He needs to be the only animal in the home and can be with kids of teenage years.

🐾 Ground floor flat or a paved garden! Max cannot go on grass areas due to his allergies.

For all enquires please email us [email protected]

Please share this post and help us find our gorgeous boy a foster home 🩵

We are super excited to announce that our Chichester hospital has recently been chosen to become a host venue for Pet Blood Bank UK - date of first session to be announced.

Pet Blood Bank is a UK charity that collects blood donations from dogs to save the lives of other many dogs in need. Incredibly, each unit of blood donated has the potential to help save the lives of up to four other dogs. The charity was set up to support vets by providing a blood service for pets, just like the one we have as humans.

They run donation sessions across the country where owners bring their much loved companions to give blood. The blood is taken to their processing centre in Loughborough where it is separated into different products. It is then stored and sent out to vets when they need it.

The charity operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure blood is always available.

To do this we need your help and we are currently on the hunt for some very special heroes who fit a certain criteria.

If your dog ticks the following boxes then please follow the link below and register your dog, selecting the practice name 'Chichester - Arun Veterinary Group'.

Be fit and healthy
Be between one and eight years’ old
Weigh more than 25kg
Have a good temperament
Have never travelled abroad
Vaccinated or have an annual titre test after the first year booster
Not be on any medication

Thank you! We are very much looking forward to sharing photographs of our very first session.

Sometimes I should not be left alone with my own brain; Dangerous things can happen 😳

So whilst having a clear out for the Emsworth Jumble Trail, I realized how much dog stuff that I have, but no longer used.

However, having lent it out on so many occasions, I also didn't want to get rid of it! 🙈. Hence the birth of Bark & Borrow (Holly picked the name, and it is perfect)

We already have a variety of items ready for customers to borrow and all money will be donated to charity 🥰

If like me you are having a clear out and have anything that you would like to donate, please do drop it into the shop 🚗

Teeth cleaning has been a great success with all dogs, so far, responding well and I still have all my fingers intact, which is a bonus 😂. I have however, uncovered a few dental problems during the initial sessions, wobbly, broken and rotten teeth and some acute cases of gingivitis. These have resulted in some urgent vet appointments and treatment. The extent of the problems were not immediately apparent due to the amount of tartar present prior to cleaning. A common factor with all these dogs was their extremely bad breath, not just your usual dog breath!

I’ve been very busy teeth cleaning over the last few weeks so I thought I’d post a few pics for you to see the results. I can honestly say that the dogs quickly get used to the toothbrush in their mouth, it’s silent and does not vibrate. I’ve seen some excellent, instant results and my customers have certainly noticed their dog’s fresher breath 😂.

There has been a huge uptake of customers wanting their dog’s teeth cleaned since my communication so please bear with me if you are waiting for an initial session date!

West Sussex and Hampshire will soon be awash with dogs with sparkling white smiles 🐾😁. Alex xx

"Sleep makes anything look innocent until it wakes up." (Unknown) Ever heard the saying, 'Let sleeping dogs lie?' You've probably heard of it but most have forgotten the reason for this warning. Although this saying wasn't originally intended to be literal, it's true you should never wake a sleeping...

We truly understand that reactive dog owners need help from other dog owners. Dog on A Lead Day was created for many reasons and at the forefront of our mind was to help raise awareness that popping your dog on a lead for a few minutes could change the world to a reactive dog and their owner, not to mention help them with any training and rehabilitation they may have invested in to help their dog.
If you do nothing else - follow this tiny bit of advice and respect other dogs and their needs. After all we all love dogs and want what's best for them.❤️

For those of you that have got to know Cookie, our rescue dog, over the years you will know her as the ‘boogie board dog’. Many of you have been asking when Cookie’s pool would be up for her to do her thing, so this weekend her new pool arrived and she couldn’t be more delighted. She has spent the last three days swimming her little heart out and is now upside down on the couch snoring away 😂. This is Cookie’s best kind of therapy, Nala on the other hand is not so sure but I’m sure intrigue will get the better of her!

FOUND!!
Millie has been safely found by her owner. Thanks for all who shared this for us!

⚠️ Missing Dog ⚠️

Millie has sadly disappeared while out on a walk in West Stoke Road, near Wellies tearooms just outside of Chichester.

She is deaf and so may struggle to find her way home. If anyone sees her, then please call us to report any sightings at our Bognor clinic. She is microchipped, so if you find her, please take to a local vet practice to get her chip details looked up so the owner can be contacted. She does also have the owners up to date contact information on her collar, which she was wearing when she went missing.

We hope you get home soon Mille ❤️
