If you are thinking “wow it costs less for me at the hairdressers than it does for my dog to be groomed” then let me explain ……
*Your hairdresser is only working on your head, I am grooming the entirety of your dog (legs, feet, head, body, underarms, tummy, ge****ls, tail, face, ears)
*I bath and shampoo the whole dog, not just the head. And I get soaked when the dog shakes. Your hairdresser is only washing the hair on your head and you sit nice and still.
*Your hairdresser doesn’t trim your nails. I risk being bitten, nibbled and growled at, as not all dogs like having their nails trimmed and filed.
*I clean and shave your dog’s bum and pick gunk out of their eyes! Not many hairdressers will do this 😆
*Hairdressers don’t risk being bitten while they work! Some dogs are afraid, sensitive, or have had bad previous experiences which makes them prone to bite. This is something dog groomers have to deal with on a daily basis. It can be scary and very stressful!
*Hairdressers don’t have to cut your hair while you constantly wriggle and move. Most dogs don’t sit completely still so we are always trying to work around their movements with very sharp scissors and clipper blades.
*Hairdressers don’t get licked on their face or in their ear or up their nose by their clients. I have dogs that do this to me. I actually don’t mind that much. 😆
*You wash and brush your hair regularly before going to the hairdresser. Most dogs are not bathed every couple of days or brushed daily.
Don’t compare dog grooming to a hairdressers appointment. There are many differences between the two.
