Centre was formed in 1969 by David Bland as Southern Pullet Rearers. We were the first to provide the 'small, inclusive package' deal, which
involved not only supplying the poultry, but also the poultry house, run,
feed, equipment and expertise and all at a discounted price. Poultry advice
in those early days tended to be repetitive, and so David Bland decided to
write a compact poultry advice

book called 'Poultry for the Garden'. This
very successful book has now been reprinted for the third time and is
probably the only book which has stood the test of time, being as popular
today as when it was first published. Centre launched its own natural louse powder, the aptly
named 'Eradicate'. This is a natural product, made up of piperonal, tea tree
oil and cedar wood oils. The base is very finely ground maize so that it will
stay in birds feathers, or animal fur for several weeks. While these natural
ingredients don’t actually kill, they will repel all lice and mites from
feathers or fur, dying once separated from their chosen host. David Bland trained professionally in the poultry industry during the
beginning of the 1950's and he has maintained a practical 'hands on'
approach ever since. He is one of the UK's leading poultry advisors. David Bland is still the driving force behind SPR centre along with his
two sons, Barrie and Dave and his daughter Debbie.

We are looking for someone to work in the shop 4 to 5 days a week
9am to 5pm. Jobs will include working behind the till, stocking shelves and general upkeep of the shop. Will include light lifting.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic and to be part of a team.
Full training will be given.

As the weather begins to get nicer and you take your kiddos to a local pond or lake to feed the ducks and geese, please keep this bit of info in mind.
Feeding bread causes permanent damage to ducks and geese. They develop angel wing. They can not migrate or fly to avoid predators. PLEASE DO NOT FEED BREAD to ducks and geese. Cracked corn, corn, peas, mealworms, romaine lettuce, watermelon, grapes CUT into pieces, cantaloupe……are a few good options!

URGENT NOTIFICATION.
Fontwell Avenue is Closed to traffic due to the flooding problem.
We are open for customers on foot, cars can drive so far up fontwell ave and park on the road and walk in to spr (you may have to wade through a few inches of water.
We apologise for the inconvenience but it is out of control.
All complaints to WSCC.
We will keep you updated as and when we are informed by the council.
