This lovely lady was so excited on her walk that it was hard to get a photo of her standing still 😆 but with coaxing of a treat or two, we had success 🙌 😍

Happy Friday folks! It's been a typical UK introduction to summer so far and the dogs seem to be a lot more accepting of that than the humans 😅 apologies for the lack of posts this week - turns out my phone storage was too full of cute pet photos to take any more Until I cleared some space. Who else is guilty of this?! 😅

Being mindful of the hot weather, I'd like my clients to be aware that I have previous experience of working with dogs who have suffered heat stroke, and therefore, am well aware of the dangers and signs to look out for. With my dog walking, I am open to early morning walks and later evening walks to avoid the peak if the heat, and whilst out with the dogs, am ensuring to walk them in mostly shaded areas whilst carrying water with me for them to keep hydrated.

As a preface, I will not be walking dogs in extreme heat - it's just not worth any associated risks - however during walks, the following measures are being taken:

- carrying drinking water.
- walking in shaded areas.
- temperature checking pavements (for their paws).
- air conditioning whilst travelling in the car.
- continuous monitoring of the dogs for: excess panting, lethargy, excess drooling, gum colour (which reddens during signs of overheating), surface/ skin temperature, and dry mucous membranes.

And lastly, if I do feel that it is unsafe to walk your dog, or if your dog begins to tire whilst I amout with them, I will terminate the walk early and bring them home. It's always best to be safe rather than question and continue!
