Most of our clients will know Sophie, an incredible part of our team, she has been with us for over two years, she started on a work placement from Lackham college and is now going into her second year at Hartbury college where she is studying Animal behaviour and welfare and absolutely smashing it. All is not lost as she still will be working some weekends and holidays.

We are looking for another wonderful person to join our team during the week as Sophie, Jess, Ellie and Isobel are back to college from next week x

I love Swallows x

The swallows are coming back. They weigh about 20 grams, but they covered more than 5000 km during the flight. They passed through the Sahara desert. They flew over the Mediterranean without having a break. They fought the rain and wind, and the scorching sun. They are extraordinary little beings. . And now they will live under the roofs of our homes and bear the offspring. Embrace their presence. Be kind to them. Respect them. One swallow can eat up to 850 flies and mosquitoes a day. One pair can kill about 1,700 flies and mosquitoes a day. There is no more effective and ecological insecticide ... Make them feel welcome here

This Wednesday (April 24) at 10am join us here for another when Asha Clearwater will chat with Jodie Bartels from NOAH on the Paws to Protect campaign - educating pet owners to use all veterinary medicines safely, responsibly and in the way they are intended to be used.

Asha will also be joined in the studio by Sam Taylor from iCatCare with top tips and advice on medicating cats.

So after visiting Jess at the stunning Cricklade cattery and seeing her beautiful new pens I had total scratch post, cat tower envy and Jess pointed me in the right direction to order some myself!

So as many of you know we had decided to close after Christmas due to Mum’s bad health, however after lots of soul searching and tears we have decided to go smaller and stay open for another year! I have so enjoyed going smaller and still have my lovely staff staying with me so happy days. I will only be running 20 pens rather than 45. Last year we exceeded the VAT limit so we have had to put VAT on our prices this year but that puts us in line with a lot of other catteries now, opening hours will remain the same xx

have a belly flap? 🤔 🐈 You might notice it swinging from side to side as your cat walks, but don’t worry, it’s not because they are overweight! It’s called the primordial pouch - an extra layer of loose skin and fatty tissue that runs the length of their stomach but is more pronounced towards their rear. Its function is to help protect their vital organs, allow for agile movement, and even help with storing food after eating. It’s more noticeable on some cats than others and that is completely normal.

A good way to tell the difference between a primordial pouch and a cat belly caused by being overweight is to check your cat's body condition – take a look at our previous post for more info on this. 👀
