The horses and cows would surely find this delicious. This is a local floodplain meadow I visited along with other farmers from @necotscluster last night. Imagine if all our turnout pasture or hay meadows looked like this, like it did in the old days. Just Magic.
Getting ready for the inevitable dry spell adding a sprinkling of woodchip to the take offs and landings of the hedges which gives them more support as the grasses grow up through the chip and help prevent it turning into a poached quagmire. From time to time we also add some 6mm carboniferous limestone from cleaning out the water jumps to help with grip and stability.
The jerseys in their element grazing the hawthorn and dogrose scrub to allow more room for the wildflowers and bounteous cowslip which are gradually being submerged by the thorn bushes. The beginning of a woodmeadow for shade shelter and diverse nutrition. Hoping to make it suitable for the horses at some stage to graze alongside the cattle for brief spells at a time #creatinghealthyhabitat
Lots of timber for new jumps - thank you @bruern_farms and also thank you to Sarsden for the windfall of a huge ancient lime which we will treasure for many years to come
Prepping ground for overseeding for our wildflower rides with our rytec cutter collector complete with scarifying blades. It'll be 2 years before much appears, but it's well worth waiting for 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵
