Enjoyed a glorious outside Zoopharmacognosy session with these two handsome boys today.

Self-selection sessions like this can help you discover how the power of plants could support your dogs from a physical or behavioural perspective.

Both boys were very clear on what they were choosing!

While we worked outside today, one of these dogs had a very different, calm response to external noises than he usually would. If you’re feeling stronger and more complete, you’re less likely to respond to potential threats in the same way 🙌

So lucky to have this wonderful secure field locally. DogField UK and other such locations provide pet parents with such a great safe place to exercise their fearful or injured dogs, or those that need a little more training to earn off-lead freedom.

FILMING REQUEST!
I am looking for two dogs to use for filming over the next couple of months. This is for a short video for a dog food brand.

1) A dog who jumps up at people a lot (NOW SORTED)
2) A young (2-5 month pref) puppy, for filming in July (NOW SORTED)

I would ideally like to come and film with them in your home or garden - and will in return offer you an hour of free training assistance while I am with you. We can just film as we train together - but you don't need to be on camera.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of a self-selection (Zoopharmacognosy) session with a young puppy who has experienced a number of traumatic events over the past few weeks, resulting in reactive behaviour on walks.

Using plant remedies for this young lad to choose what he needed for support allowed us to see that gut issues could also be playing into the recent behaviour - not surprising when he’s had giardia too.

If the stomach isn’t feeling good, neither is the mind!

Zoopharmacognosy sessions can support your dog through many behavioural challenges in a ‘treating the whole dog’ approach. They can also support physical ailments or help to investigate mystery symptoms that you can’t get to the bottom of.

Top tips for dealing with guests and dogs this festive period!

When we want guests to interact with our dogs in the right way.... giving them a positive action to take instead of telling them NOT to do something is much more likely to end in success.

For example, if you'd like to avoid your dog jumping onto guests when they arrive... load a food toy with something delicious and place it by your front door. Ask your visitor to give that to your dog as soon as they come in the door RATHER than saying, "don't give my dog any attention when you arrive".

Dog-loving humans will always want to interact with your dog, so by letting them present a big treat when they first arrive instead of asking them to have zero interaction is a request they're much more likely to follow.

Getting together with our loved ones - in a small confined space for a number of days - can be enough to cause family rifts and a whole lot of stress. But throw in a new canine member of the family - perhaps who hasn’t had quite the training or socialisation they may have had in pre-Covid times - and there’s a potential for a whole lot more frustration (from both ends of the lead).

Great to see that our friends at Natural Treats Bristol are stocking some wonderful plants and herbs! In my Self-Selection (applied Zoopharmacognosy) work I know just how beneficial these natural elements can be.

Huge congratulations to this week's graduating puppies! Amazing progress from Bonnie, Daisy, Mabel, Fleur, Gracie, and Ronnie. 👏

Also, congrats to our wonderful Stage 2 group - Tilly, Rosie, Branston, Ralph, Enzo, and Bentley.

Final in-person classes of the year! 😢

Thank you for making the past few months so much fun - to all the puppies, stage 2 dogs, and my wonderful clicker club members.

We have a Stage 2 taking place online in July, then that's a wrap for classes this year. Look forward to seeing everyone again in 2022.

I am currently only working with current training or behaviour clients until the end of July - apologies for anyone new looking for support, but we're fully booked.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this past (very strange) year - and beyond - and look forward to working with you again next year.

We have emailed all class attendees, but just in case you see this first - unfortunately we've had to make the decision to move classes to online this evening.

Due to expected temperatures of 22/23 at 6/7pm (with a "feels like" temp of 25/26) and lack of shade at the field, for the welfare of the dogs we feel online is our only option.

It’s going to be hot like this today too! Avoid walks during the hottest hours, provide plenty of water and shade, and enjoy a relaxed day.
