🩷 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🎀
This isn’t something I normally share too publicly, and certainly not on my business page. But it’s something that’s so important and apart of how this business started.
The short story was, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer the day before my youngest was born, nearly 4 years ago. It was by chance I found a lump and whilst I was told it was nothing, 18 months later I still wasn’t convinced, I went for another check and turned out it was cancer.
I have had multiple operations, chemotherapy, and other therapies and medicines along the way.
There was no reason behind me getting cancer at such a young age, there was no family history and the reality was only around 10% are found to be genetic.
Through my maternity leave/treatment I did lots of research into other known causes, most of which are found to be environmental , such as food.
Through this my interest then branched into the health of our dogs and surely the same goes for them. Whilst we as humans have evolved over the years, so have dogs. The one thing that we can be certain that neither of us have evolved to do is eat processed foods, but how do we get away from it, its thrust in our faces all the time, its convenient, and it’s usually cheap.
We are told we shouldn’t eat too many eggs, we shouldn’t eat red meat, we shouldn’t eat butter. The ultra processed foods are advertised as healthy alternatives when in reality this is not true at all!
The rise in cancer cases for dogs is going up and up and up, whilst we can control what goes into our bodies, they cannot and they rely on YOU!
Modern medicine is incredible and without it I may not be here today, but that doesn’t mean we should rely on it. We need to do more to prevent these things from happening rather than just treating them when they happen, in both humans and animals
And ladies, don’t forget to check your bo***es, early detection really does saves lives!
