Every year we have a Christmas Collection for donations to local animal charities. These can be food, toys, bedding etc and can be dropped off at any of our 3 branches.
Euwwwww! Here is a small tick being removed from the ear of a puppy today. We safely removed it using a tick hook ensuring the head came with the body! Ticks carry a nasty disease called Lymes disease so it is important to use a tick prevention medication and remove any as soon as possible. This one is quite small so won't have been attached long as they get quite engorged as they drink your pets blood.
If you find a tick, please do not attempt to pull off, always use a tick remover as in the video or contact your vet.
Look away if you don't like little critters! We would like to introduce you to Demodex! These critters like to reside in the hair follicles of dogs and remain there throughout their life cycle. They rarely cause any harm and only tend to cause problem in those dogs with a weakened immunity or already severe skin issues.
Did you know humans have their own demodex who live their best lives unnoticed on most people? 😳
Urgh, here are some more of those pesky critters that we removed yesterday. They start off very small and as they feed off your pets blood, they become engorged!
Meet Kevin and Perry 😍
Today they are dining on 😋
