Many cat owners are familiar with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and FeLV (Feline Leukaemia Virus), two very common viruses that can lead to serious or even fatal illnesses.
Disease progression is characterised by destruction of the immune system and, unfortunately, there is no cure. However, we have a number of options to manage these diseases and make sure your cat is comfortable.
This is especially important if your cat lives with other cats, if you have recently added another cat to the family, or if your cat has outdoor access.
Unlike FIV, a vaccine is available for FeLV, so don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like more information about vaccinating your feline friend. 💉
Playing is a great way for us to bond with our pets!

Did you know that “catwalk” means “a very narrow, high bridge”?
Before the fashion industry adopted the expression, the term catwalk referred to structures on ships and theatres, and it is thought that these got their name because of the careful way one would have to walk on them, like a cat. 😺
Tell us: does your cat strut their stuff elegantly, or do they knock everything over with just one step forward? 🤭
🐾 Keeping your cat active is purr-fectly essential! 🐾
Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight, reduces stress, and keeps those playful paws strong and agile.
You don't have to have a cat wheel! You can throw their food to chase and use cat toys/chasers, harness them up for a walk or use a light such a a laser pen (avoiding eye contact) to encourage them to run around.

These signs could indicate ear mites, eight-legged parasites (usually of the species Otodectes cynotis) that might be living on the wax and oils of your pet’s ears. 😯
But don’t worry! If you spot these signs in your pet, bring them to us and we’ll be able to quickly diagnose this, as ear mites are visible in a microscope and sometimes even to the naked eye. 🔬
Since these parasites are very contagious, treatment aims to eliminate them from your affected pet and other pets in the household. This might include cleaning the ears with topical antiseptics and medication for parasites.
It’s essential to treat ear mites! Even though they might seem harmless, if left untreated they might have serious consequences for your pet, such as hearing loss.

Myxomatosis is a deadly rabbit viral disease that can affect all bunnies, even those who only live indoors! 🐇 Is your pet protected?
This virus can find itself in your home through any parasite that consumes blood, with fleas and mosquitos being the main culprits in spreading it. It starts by attacking the eyelids and the mouth, and you might see:
👉 Swelling of the eyes, nose and genital area
👉 Low appetite and energy
👉 Runny nose
Fortunately, we have extremely safe and efficient vaccines that can protect your furry friends from myxomatosis, so don’t hesitate to call us to schedule your appointment today!
There are a number of diseases that have a genetic component, meaning that these can be transmitted from pet parents to their offspring. Some of these are associated with certain breeds, such as:
🐕 Brachycephalic obstructive airway disease in the French Bulldog and other brachycephalic breeds
🐕 Hip and elbow dysplasia in the German Shepherd
🐕 Mitral valve disease and dry eye in the Cavalier King Charles
🐈 Polycystic kidney disease in Persian cats
This is why screening pet parents is so important, which is something that you need to be mindful of if you’re considering buying from a breeder.
DNA testing is one of the tools used to screen potential pet parents, alongside with other tests, such as X-rays, ultrasound, orthopaedic and several organ-specific tests.
