Always a bit late on the social media updates, but I found this lovely photo of Mumble in the High Profile Grand Prix class at Bury Farm at the end of August.
He was uncharacteristically energetic, which was great but unexpected, and we ended up placing 6th! It’s been a good season with my special unicorn 🦄

This was also our first time ‘out out’ testing the that farrier Chris has introduced us to and wow! Such a difference; much more spring in Mumble, who hasn’t been a fan of the firmer surfaces earlier on this season.
All my horses are now in these rubber shoes and I’ve felt improvements in all of them.

Mumble is looking great thanks to , who has supplied him and the team with Joint, Gut and Airway supplements for years now. All based on the natural anti-inflammatory processes of the green lipped mussels. Very grateful for the support and your top products.

And last but not least thank you to and Robert for coming to all the shows this summer to video, coach, stroke Mumble’s ego and support on all the days in between.

Baroness Natty of Argentina (probably), Cirencester Park and Furzen Farmhouse

1997 (maybe) - 2025 ❤️‍🩹

Friday was a day of sadness as Natty left us after four days of illness; she spend the last days surrounded by sunshine and friends and tasty green grass, free roaming around the yard to try and keep her spirits up.

Andy and Natty first became friends some 12 years ago when playing polo in Cirencester Park; her whereabouts before that are somewhat vague - but she was speedy and ruthless in a ride off, skills she made use of until the end, mostly if she was unhappy with the speed, or lack thereof, with which she was fed/ turned out/ brought in.

Natty’s previous owner suggested in 2018 we loan her for the remainder of the winter, and perhaps there was something with a girlfriend/groom’s broken arm and the threat of a lawsuit which meant that this was a convenient arrangement for all parties involved.
Andy was very excited to have a pony friend to hang out with, and diligently rode her every morning before taking the train from Swindon to work.

Getting the passport to seal the deal took some work from several parties involved, and it wasn’t until a drunken BBQ months later we exchanged passport and money. The more detailed version of this story shall remain undisclosed under the Official Secrets Act.
The passport was a freshly issued replacement passport, which is why her actual age is somewhat uncertain - one could speculate that a younger official age could get a few more resales out of a horse, but that is pure speculation on my part and perhaps a prejudice about the so well known honesty of the polo industry.

Danish summertime at it’s best! The concept of holidays is a little foreign these days, and Andy did take one for the team and stayed home to manage horses and guest house, but it was a great 3 days catching up with family and a biiiig silver wedding anniversary + 50th + 60th party 🥳
The weather was glorious and the sea freezing, luckily the pizzas very hot and my ‘ride or die’ brother Skippy & bike took us cruising though Copenhagen which was just brilliant 🤩

I love feeling the change of seasons, and even if we have a heat wave coming, it’s definitely a different light and energy out there 🌾

Whiskers and I made the most of the freshly harvested fields by going for a long walk, snack testing the straw bales as we came past them (Whiskers not me 😅).

It’s a luxury and also a priority to have enough time to give to every horse, based on what they need and feel like on a given day.

The more you get to know each horse, the more you learn patience and to take the time needed, and the more the horses give you back.

Long may the learning continue 🤍

The most happy footed of penguins working his way to two top 10 placings in the Grand Prix classes at Premier League.

No progress is linear, but it was so nice to get rewarded for many details which we’ve worked to improve this year.

A great show with even better people; and a big thank you to and for helping Mumble perform his best!

Some beautiful photos of Mumble from our recent outings to Addington CDI 🇩🇰 and Premier League ⭐️

I thought about what to write; something aspirational and glossy or perhaps something closer to the truth, which is why I’m a bit late to the party 😅

The surfaces ranging from stony car parks and firm show arena did not agree with Mumble’s feet, and he wasn’t feeling quite himself until the very helpful show farrier put some pads on his front feet to help with a bit of protection.

The Grand Prix CDI test had some mistakes and reluctant piaffes but overall a more correct frame and better harmony, which is something we’ve really focused on over the winter.
Mumble’s favourite place to be is slightly overbent and not working quite enough through the back, so it was positive to maintain this in a test despite it costing some marks from loss of engagement.
It’s not easy, nor quick, to improve on a 16yr old horse, but if we don’t dare to change things for the better/ more correct, then what’s the point of doing dressage?

In the warmup for the Freestyle I noticed that the curb chain had rubbed the side of his lip, so we withdrew and watched the top riders do their thing instead!

On a side note it was interesting to see the new FEI noseband gauge in action; it seemed to be used somewhat intermittently the first day but on day 2 everyone got checked. The stewards very super helpful and several riders got their tack checked prior to their test or even when just exercising their horses, which is not something I’ve seen much of before. Surprised the gauge wasn’t being used at the Premier League?

We went back for the Premier League in a snaffle to contest the Grand Prix music, we had a lot more energy to work with and the warmup felt super! 🥳
The trot work was really nice and the piaffe and transitions willing, sadly the canter work wasn’t quite as good as normal - no mistakes but not as convincing as can be. The marks ranged from 64% - 71% so that’s always fun; but we shall practice it on a less concussive surface before the next big show and be better!

📸 Thank you to for the photos, lovely to meet you and see your beautiful horses in action 🙏

About me

Bork Eppers Dressage is a training and livery facility that focuses on training horses and riders in dressage at all levels from intro to advanced. It is run by myself, Anne Marie Bork Eppers, an international small tour dressage rider, BHS AI, UKCC2 and RoR accredited coach.

I compete my own horse Mumble up to Inter 1, and I have trained him since I bought him as a 6-year old. My goal is to continue progressing as a rider and coach and within the next 4 years qualify for the Danish Championships in Grand Prix. I also co-own an ex-racehorse, Paddington, who is looking very promising for a career in eventing.

My training livery and coaching draws on all my experience from riding and grooming for top-international riders across Europe, and each horse and rider is treated professionally and according to their individual needs.

Please do not hesitate to contact me in case you would like any further information, or an informal chat about what I offer.
