SO VERY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE
❤️❤️❤️Something very very special happened today Monday March 4th 2024 The Alva Academy Doggy Den Therapy Shed was built,Diamond Dogs Pet Hotel and Donna Rescues have donated £1000 to this being built,the school is doing various events to raise the remainder of the purchase price,a bingo tea in Alva and a sponsored walk organised by my good friend Wendy Robb, who is a learning assistant for the children the shed will most benefit from We have 3 therapy dogs that we use,Izzy,Haggis and Buddy who was purchased specifically for the children to interact with,the shed was purchased and built by the amazing company Falkirk Sheds based in Redding,who went above and beyond very highly recommend company and we give grateful thanks to them.Supervising the build today was Wee Haggis who thought it was fab, great ideas and dreams do come true,The shed will be officially opened after the Easter holidays ❤️❤️❤️

My name is Donna Dickie I am fundraising for a Dog Therapy Shed to be situated in the grounds of ALVA ACADEMY SCHOOL CLACKMANNANSHIRE.The shed is to be used by the children in the additional needs and support group.We have found animal dog therapy allows the children to self regulate,and establish an animal relationship that builds trust,confidence and self esteem,it brings calmness on a one to one basis with the animal,and meets the children’s social and emotional needs,we have 3 dogs that are suitable for dog therapy we have Buddy Isla,and Haggis children from every Hillfoot town attend the Academy my aim is to get the shed installed by March 2024,we have all the relevant planning permissions in place and an area has been signed off as a suitable site,this project has been a few years in the planning,past interaction with the children and the dogs inside the school has been a great success and the children loved playing and learning about the dogs and pet care and ownership,the most wonderful thing that happened was a child who initially was scared of dogs got the confidence to clap and spend time with one of the therapy dogs,as always with animals patience love and time,so we are now looking to purchase a dedicated meeting place for the dogs and children can meet up,please give what you can thru the go fund site Donna Rescues will be making a large donation to this fundraiser, there will be updates and hopefully local newspapers coverage of its opening in the spring.Please click the blue go fund at top of page to donate.PLEASE SHARE

Diary now open for 2024 we are planning to take some special holidays next year in January June,and December as it’s my 60th year deposits will be taken for peak booking dates as we had some no shows this year

As from Monday 6th march 2023 Boarding fees are changing to amount per day instead of night as people are taking advantage of the 24 hour window for pick up and some are picking dogs up hours later than agreed

**IMPORTANT PLEASE READ**

It is with a heavy heart that I am telling you that a family members dog died yesterday after playing with the garden hose with my nephews.
He suffered secondary drowning and devastatingly this was fatal. He was fit & healthy; he was the tender age of 3!

I personally wasn’t aware of secondary drowning and play with my dogs with my garden hose to cool them down. This is one of Blake’s favourite games.

What is secondary drowning??

Your pet has likely inhaled water into its lungs, and even after coughing it up or after observing water draining from the nose or mouth, there could be residual water remaining in the lungs. This could lead to pneumonia. Secondary drowning has been known to occur, even up to three days after the initial near-drowning. Exhaustion is almost always the cause of drowning. With a hose or even a sprinkler your dog can inhale the water and this can be fatal.
