Could you foster an animal in need?
So many animals are finding themselves in rescue centres and we are seeing more and more rescue centres having to close their doors due to having no space or funds.
Benefits to being a foster family:
🐾Saves an animals life - some animals would be euthanised if there is nowhere for them to go.
🐾Kennel life can be stressful for an animal so a home environment can give an animal a chance to heal from possible trauma.
🐾Gives the rescue centre an opportunity to get to know and assess the animals behaviour so they can find a suitable home for them.
🐾Rescue centres provide all you need to care for the animal ie food and medical bills.
🐾It can be a trial run for your family if you are thinking of getting a pet. It can also teach children the responsibility of caring for an animal.
🐾It’s a temporary commitment but can change the life of an animal forever.
There are so many animal rescue centres across Northern Ireland that need foster places so they can help as many animals in need as possible.
If you can’t foster please help by sharing information on fostering or donating to your local rescue.

Don't be turned away from pet boarding facilities the day you are due to go away. No vaccines 🚫 No entry!
Boarding kennels and Catteries will need proof of your pets being fully vaccinated, so now is the time to check everything is up to date!
Dogs will need vaccinated against Distemper, Hepatitis (canine adenovirus), Parvovirus, Parainfluenza (DHPPI), Leptospirosis (L4) and also Kennel cough.
The Kennel cough vaccine is an optional vaccine therefore it is not normally given as part of the puppy or annual vaccine protocol unless it is requested.
Boarding kennels will require the Kennel cough vaccine to be given at least 3 weeks before your dog will be boarding with them.
Cats will need to be fully vaccinated against Cat flu before entering any cattery.

This lady was hit by a car this afternoon on the Ballyquin Road outside Dungiven. She is about 2 years old and is microchipped but we are unable to trace her owner. She is extremely modest and quiet and needs to get home. If you own her or recognise her please contact the surgery on 028-71338777.

🐾💕New Home wanted💕🐾 Sadly no owner has come forward for this little lady so we are now looking for a new home for her. She is so sweet and is doing really well here with us, eating, drinking and using a litter tray. As you can see from the video she loves being petted and getting attention. She came in with a very small scratch on her nose but its healing well. If you think you could offer a new home to this little lady please contact 02871338777. This little kitten was found last night on the Berryhill Road, Donemana. Finder didn't want her getting hurt on the road so took her home over night. We were working out in the yard today and this bee fell straight from the sky beside us, landing on its back. It was obvious he had run out of fuel so we summoned Aine, our specialist bee resuscitator. She mixed a little sugar and water and he drank from it straight away. Once satisfied he was off back to his work again. The whole procedure took about 2 minutes from start to finish. This is a very simple thing that anyone can do, and it is always amazing how quickly it works. The affected bee will need no encouragement to drink the sugar water if that is what is needed.
Due to two bank holidays this week our only delivery from our suppliers will be Tuesday! Please place any orders for prescription food on Vetpetni today for tomorrows delivery. It will be a full week until our next delivery. The practice will be closed on Thursday. Please ensure your pets prescriptions are topped up as our on call vet will not be available to dispense repeat medications while the office is closed.
This little lady was brought into us 16 days ago. She had been found collapsed outside a house, separated from her mother. At the time she weighed only 300 grams and she was very hypothermic and extremely dehydrated, all mainly due to hunger. We thought the odds were against her but she responded well to intravenous treatment (we had to clip her left front leg for this in case you're wondering why?) and she managed to revive. We think she was about 5 weeks old when she came into us, and she has more than doubled in weight. For the first week we had to bottle feed her, but she is now greedily eating solids as if every meal were her last and she is making amazing progress day by day. She is extremely affectionate and loves company and is very playful as you can see in the video. She is now ready for re-homing.
