Pachnoda Fruit Beetle Grubs are beetle larvae that have been bred as live food for exotic pets. These fruit beetle grubs are great for dusting with calcium dust to give an extra boost of supplements. These beetles are bred in ethical conditions and make a great treat for healthy animals or a staple for those under the weather.
Are Fruit beetle grubs good for Bearded dragons?
Fruit beetle grubs are extremely popular with Bearded dragon keepers as they are easy to store and appealing to most Bearded dragons. However, these insects are very high in fat and may lead to poor health if overfed to your pet. They are best used as an occasional treat alongside less fatty livefood, such as Crickets or Locusts.
We recommend feeding once a week or so as the grubs are better suited to being an occasional treat. We send our livefood as soon as possible, so each grub should last for between 3-5 months before becoming adult beetles, depending on the conditions they are kept in.
However, like most species of beetles, adult Fruit beetles can still be fed as livefood in a pinch, although their tough exterior might put off fussy eaters. Fruit beetles can also be used as Bioactive custodians as they will eat rotten fruit, leaves and live plants that smell and attract fruit flies.

Here are 5 tips and tricks to reduce waste as a reptile keeper!
♻️ Switch to Reusable Dishes - If you have reptiles that eat our crested gecko diet, switching to reusable feeding dishes, like our silicone cups or MicroDishes, removes a lot of plastic waste from your routine! Alternatively, if you've got too many geckos to keep up on clean dishes, you can use biodegradable cups which can then be composted!
🍂 Go Bioactive - Bioactive enclosures require substrate changes less often than their naturalistic or sterile counterparts. Going bioactive therefore reduces the substrate you will need to send to a landfill. Check out our bioactive blog or the bioactive section in our store for inspiration on your bioactive build!
🥕Repurpose Uneaten Food - If your gecko doesn't eat all of their food, your isopods can take care of the scraps!
We've found that isopods and springtails love snacking on gecko leftovers. Certain fruit and vegetable scraps from your food can also be reused for this purpose, just make sure they are pesticide-free and ideally organic!
💡 Extend Your UVB Life - Setting up your UVB to only operate during peak basking times for your reptile is a great way to extend the life of your UVB bulbs. This is great for your wallet and the planet, reducing the bulbs you consume in a given period of time.
Positioning a bulb to cover multiple enclosures can also help reduce the bulb you consume!
