***2019 UPDATE***
2019 was quite a year for all of us at Allerton Cat Rescue…. in fact the busiest year we have ever had.
There seems to be so many more Felines needing help and a huge increase in the amount of kittens being born.
We were out trapping on the streets nearly every day from the end of Spring and were so busy with pregnant mums and kittens that we had to close our doors at the end of the summer.
We are totally voluntarily run and our volunteers were really struggling at times , but we battled through still striving to help as many cats and kittens as we could by doing OUR BEST to help them despite huge vet bills and no funding.
***HOMED IN 2019***
925 Cats and Kittens , a 27% increase on the 727 homed in 2018.
509 Cats and 416 Kittens
Along with this our 2019 Vet Bill was a staggering £100,335 !!
of which we paid off £88,881
Any help with this bill is much appreciated, you will find ways to donate above , w cannot help them without your help thank you

Allerton Cat Rescue is a non-profit sanctuary for felines either abandoned, mistreated or otherwise between homes. All are looking for a warm, loving home and the means by which to live comfortably until they are brought to a family home.
Mission: To bring light to the lives of unwanted and unloved Cats.
For over forty years, Brenda has given part of her home over to Cats who are in need of loving homes after abandonments, tragedies and a history of stray living. She runs a non-profit shelter which exists entirely because of donations, either by those willing to give food, blankets, or even money. Or those with the space in their homes to give a Cat another chance at being part of a family. With Cats constantly coming in, in need of love and care, your help is more important than ever. Have you the space in your life to give a home to a loving, deserving animal? Even just the money to buy some food, beds or blankets? It all helps continue Brenda's work to love the Cats that have come to her in need of help.
When re-homing felines, all Brenda asks for is £40 per cat , 2 adult cats £60 and £50 per kitten to help pay for veterinary treatments, food and shelter for its friends until they too can be blessed with a new home.
We now have a Support shop, which is located on the second floor of the Old Mill, Victoria Road, Eccleshill, Bradford, BD2 2BH. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5.00pm 12.000-16.00 Sunday. We are always very grateful for any donations we can sell. This shop is run for free by volunteers and all monies are paid off our vets bill.
We have food bins in most Morrison’s franchises within the Bradford area if you would like to deposit food (Tins, Pouches, and Biscuits) for our Cats. Due to financial difficulties, largely due to the recession, we are struggling constantly to keep our doors open. We are fighting tooth and nail against this, as we obviously don't wish to resort to this. All we ask is for a little help to ensure we can give the cats a loving place to live whilst they are looking for their forever homes.
Before Cats are re-homed, Brenda sees to it that they are all spayed/neutered in order to prevent them breeding more unwanted Cats.
ALLERTON CAT RESCUE INFORMATION AND DISCLAIMER
At Allerton cat rescue we are looking for lifelong permanent homes for our cats/kittens and you are confirming you will provide this to the best of your ability.
When you get home, your cat/kitten may be frightened initially and go hide underneath or behind something to feel more secure, this is normal behaviour, a good idea is to have the cat in one room with food water and litter tray till they become more accustomed to their new surroundings. They also may not eat/drink or use the litter tray for 24-48 hours, if this is the case you could try enticing with cooked chicken or cat treats, do not give cats cows milk.. Cats take different times to have confidence so give them time. Any queries please contact us on facebook, by private message or email us. If you are introducing them to other pets again this may take time and please consider each cat is different and they may need to be in separate rooms and introduced slowly.
Please understand that we do not know the background of most of the cats that have come into the rescue and they may have come into contact with communicable disease. At the time of adoption the cat/kitten is presumed to be in a healthy condition suitable for adoption.
Please keep vaccinations, flea and worming treatment up to date, many vets provide discounted packages to cover this. Also seriously consider taking out pet insurance to cover unexpected vet bills.
Allerton Cat Rescue will cover the cost of any symptoms of cat flu to be treated only by our vet Terry Croud at Gatehouse Vets in Allerton once given permission from us at the rescue. This cover will be for a period of 2 weeks from the adoption date.
If your cat/kitten develops any of these symptoms
Repeated sneezing, coughing, runny eyes or nose please get in touch by private message via our page, ring the rescue or email us and we will advise you accordingly. We will not cover the cost of any treatment that is given at other vets.
After the first 14 days you agree that any veterinary costs for your adopted cat/kitten become your sole responsibility.
