Back at it, still very icy underfoot in places, and started off quite scary when my van slid off the drive sidewards at 830 this morning, however we managed, and although I was hoping it would have all gone by end of play today, it's looking like it might be abit longer although one word comes to mind MUD!! 🤦‍♀️😂

(I have missed a dog off 😢, but loved his new hair cut, I'll get a pic of him tomorrow)

Not as cold as last night however it's to get down to -6

Best not forget the cats had I 💓

it's -3 currently and 0° is advised to keep cats indoors.
If you can't, I would certainly be providing them with somewhere warm, maybe a water bottle under a blanket.

If you have animals outside, try staying out with them.

You know that saying your parents used to always say to you, "you ain't getting benefit, wearing a coat inside, in this weather"

Point proved 🤷‍♀️🐶🐾🐈

Been making use of the bad weather, completed another section of the main course "Development & Wellness" and then completed and passed another crash course

Going to update my pinned post as there's 2 more to go on there too.

Getting there slowly, but there's so much to learn, want to make sure I'm taking it in too 🤓

Bitterly cold out there at the moment 🥶

Next week is looking much warmer, might be a slow start Monday as temps don't rise till then, however the light is near the end of the tunnel, in 8 years I've never seen it this bad 😳, the amount of dogs that have been injured, my van dying a death yesterday (got it going eventually, took it for a run out on main roads) seeing how bad the side streets still are, up Moorside, round scholes, round hightown, it's crazy 😫⚠️

Thank you once again to those that cancelled due to been home, I made the decision to do short walks/toilet breaks due to the ice, it's painful for the dogs to walk on, it's also bordering on been too cold (during the day) so a short walk is all they really need, some won't agree with me but I'm here to keep dogs safe, that's my job.
Thanks for understanding 😢

Are you struggling to get your dog to get motivated?

Have you thought, maybe they don't want to always walk but use their brain instead?
I have access to a fabulous e book with brain game ideas, by using brain games, you can help occupy your dog and keep them busy, keeping them out of trouble, and some games are brilliant for promoting calmness.
Some brain games can help fulfil certain needs some dogs or breeds have such as scent work, digging or to chase

Mental stimulation is just as important as physical stimulation and can help achieve a tired and chilled out dog.

If you want the e book sending over, send me your email address and have some fun with your dog 🐕

As I go on about the hot weather, these really cold next few days can be just as dangerous for your Dogs.

🐾 Ice can cut paws
🐾 Grit is toxic, so ensure to wipe paws on return so Dogs aren't licking it off and ingesting it
🐾 Paws are how the dogs regulate their temperature so when their walking out and about the feel the cold really quickly.
🐾 If you insist on taking your dog out for walks, pop them in a coat, reduce walking time massively, and keep a very close eye on them for any signs of Hyperthermia.

Signs of Hyperthermia:

🐾Shivering: This is the most common sign and is often the first to appear. Shivering is a natural response to help warm up the body.

🐾Lethargy: May be less active than usual, seem tired, or be unwilling to play.

🐾Lower body temperature: A dog's normal body temperature is around 101 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit

🐾Shallow breathing: Watch for changes in your dog's breathing, as slow or shallow breathing could be a warning sign.

🐾Pale gums:

🐾Loss of consciousness: In severe cases, dogs might become unresponsive or lose consciousness.

Other symptoms include:

🐶Muscle stiffness
🐕Difficulty walking
🐶Confusion
🐕Dilated pupils
🐶Low heart rate
🐕Curling up, crouching down, and making themselves smaller
🐶Staying close to you for warmth
🐕Cold paws, ears, or tail

If you suspect your dog has hypothermia, you should:
Take your dog to a warmer environment immediately
Call a veterinarian's office for advice
Keep the car warm on the way to the vet
Monitor your dog's temperature

⚠️Hypothermia is life-threatening and should always be treated first⚠️

⚠️ Client Update, Tuesday 7th Jan- Friday 9th Jan ⚠️

As the weather continues to be cold, icy and dangerous, school has announced that it is a delayed start all week now 😑 (I didn't actually send Mia today as the side road up to school is horrendous, but I've told her she's got to try tomorrow) which also means I'm losing 2 hours off my day as my morning walk is usually pick up from 9, however for the rest of this week unless it starts melting (highly doubt it with the temperatures) I am going to prioritise those dogs home alone and do shorter walks/and or toilet visits, this again depends on your street and if I can actually get onto them, although I managed today, it was horrendous and walking underfoot is even worse, I'm no good to anyone if I injure myself or have an accident in the van. (Which i nearly did today coming back down from hightown) so please be patient, it's out of my control 😢❄️ and it's only a few days, SAFETY FIRST.

Those that have cancelled already, thank you.
Please message me about the rest of the week (on the days you normally go) as to whether you can cope without me, or need me to bob in and do a toilet break and I'll try my best to get there, thank you for understanding 😢🥰😫

Walking update (Tuesday 7th)

Due to the ice been worse than yesterday and a delayed start with school, I am only doing toilet walks for those dogs home alone, if I can get to them, side roads and pavements are terrible and I've lost 2 hours off my day as she doesn't have to be there till 1030 and that's if she can get up the hill, sorry for any inconvenience
Stay safe 😢

06/01/2025

Unfortunately walks are cancelled today, schools have closed, although main road looks clear, the side roads certainly aren't, safety is very important for myself and the dogs, therefore I am staying home, sorry for any inconvenience and stay safe if you are travelling for work

05/01/2025

Not sure how much snow we are due or if it's going to melt anytime soon, but as it stands my van is stuck on the drive so just a heads up for tomorrow as warnings in place till midnight and although the main road has cleared since this morning the side roads are unpassable.
Hoping to walk as normal but I'm sure if I'm stuck I won't be the only one either.

Happy New Year everybody, an expensive start for me after having to get my van key fixed but it's all sorted 🤞

A quiet but crisp and cold start back, however it's how I like it, after 13 days of doing practically nothing bar eat, sleep and been merry 😃

Plus Mias still home so it's nice to spend a few quieter days with her too 💕
Hope you've all had a fantastic new year.
