What a busy summer it's shaping up to be! Parent and Pony sessions are now nearly fully booked for the next 5 weeks.

Today was lovely, meeting a mum who wanted to learn more about pony care, general handling and confidence with horses.
Casper and Thunder thought she did wonderfully!

Two of our residents are looking for new loaners due to the family buying their own.

Merlin is a 17.3 TB who was too laid back to race. To date, he has taken complete novices, disabled and eldery riders as a happy hacker. He could attend clinics and shows with the right rider.

Snickers is a bomb proof lead rein 12.2hh dartmoor mare who will go off the lead for a confident rider. She has been introduced to jumping while with me and I'm happy for this to continue.

today we received our accreditation to become an equine therapy provider. This enables us to focus on rehabbing those project horses who end up with us for whatever reason; but it also helps us promote and action positive mental health workshops through the use of equines.

Our estate manager and a president of the Lions Clubs International has applied, and was successful in ordering 420 saplings for delivery in Nov. We will be painting them along the right of way. We are being supported by South West UK virtual Lions club 🙂 We will know more closer to the time. We will share photos when we can. 🤠

Does everyone remember Flicker? Little BOGOFF mare that no one could handle?
We've turned a major corner today with her 🥰

Kate has always 'tricked' Flicker into having a done up headcollar slid up her nose and over her ears. Today was the first time Kate had attempted to do a headcollar up 'like normal'.

While Flicker was in an obliging mood, we also started working on touching her legs and her feet as groundwork for farrier visits in the future. Kate managed to stroke all the way down her legs to her hooves and over her back

With the owners permission, we'd like to share a snippet of a fabulous little mare who they've just taken on and stabled with us. She is a feisty little DHP X who couldn't be headcollared- so this is another success story for Kate 🙂 she's worked twice with this mare this week and produced these results.

The loose headcollar allows us to slide the rope behind her ears and give her a scratch. This is often a no-go area for a lot of horses so it's important to get them used to this sensation as soon as possible.
The headcollar is also easy to slide off if the horse over-panics, so we can control the situation.

By the end of this session (15mins) the head collar was behind both ears and loosely sat on the nose. Success 🏆🏆🏆🏆

We had an absolutely AMAZING day today with little Casper.

He was bathed within an inch of his life 😂🙈 scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed again. Allowed to dry out while we took delivery of a hay order (thank you Equicraft of Backwell !) and then he goes on to be this awesome with young Kara!

This is a little pony who no one could catch, stroke, handle a year ago... now, he's on his way to being the best kids pony on the yard ❤️

This just shows what down time, good diet, time and the right training can do. This little pony has a future 🌟🌟🌟🌟 and that's worth celebrating.

Suit mother/father and child looking to get out and hack confidently. Will go forwards off the lead rein for a confident rider.

We love working with the scared, feral types. ❤️ this mare has been here for 3 weeks and starting to come out of her shell. Due to drop a foal any day, we are not putting to much on her so as not to stress her and baby out. Just get used to us coming and going.

Natural horsemanship is a great way of bonding with your horse- be it a new partnership or one that's been going for donkey's years! This little man is a 2yr old stallion who is here for a 1-1 education, before he can be gelded and backed over the summer. No lead line here forcing him to follow, but he still chooses too anyway. That's the best kind of connection, we feel.

After a 5 week break thanks to the weather, Moonie decided it was a much better idea to roll... and roll... and roll... rather than do any kind of work 😂♥️ #barefootandnatural #designmoonshine #playbeforework
