Following on from our post this morning - a lot of people seem upset by our request as to not leave empty blister packs outside of the premises when we closed. There are several reasons for this and we think we are being reasonable in regards to our request.

We are open Monday-Friday from 08:30-18:00 in which we will gladly accept empty blister pack recycling.

We are unable to leave a collection bin outside as we want to be able to return your bags to you for further recycling, we need to check through each bag to ensure there is no contraband, and we need to be able to monitor the quantity we are receiving vs. how many recycling bins we have.

By leaving blister packs outside, it is classed as fly-tipping and in line with our recycling and green thumb, we encourage people not to do it. Carrier bags have a huge impact on the environment in itself but in this situation, it also causes hazards to pets walking by, local wildlife and potentially other people as well. Especially if there are loose pills in the bags etc. Bags piled up outside also do not look very nice so we just ask that nobody leaves anything outside when we are closed.

We have asked previously for people not to add contraband to their bags as we cannot take anything other than empty blister packets. Unfortunately, if rules and requests are not followed, it puts the scheme in jeopardy and we fear we may not be able to continue. We want to be able to continue the scheme, not only for our clients but for everyone else as well, as we are aware this scheme is not widely available. We enjoy being a hub for the local communities and hope everyone can abide by this request.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please send us a message and we will be happy to answer your queries. We are still only accepting a maximum of 1 carrier bag per person at the moment due to the high demand and not enough boxes! We are unable to accept empty blister packs from local pharmacies at this time.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Alexandra & Hillyfields.

Are you aware of blue-green algae?

What you need to know:

⚠️ Blue-green algae are tiny bacteria found in
still, nutrient-rich water.
⚠️ They produce toxins harmful to dogs; about
half of exposed dogs die.
⚠️ Most poisonings occur from drinking or
swimming in freshwater lakes and ponds.
Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, muscle
tremors, and seizures can appear within an
hour.
⚠️ Prevent poisoning by avoiding risky areas,
checking algae warnings, and rinsing dogs after
swimming.

ATTENTION HEALTHY PET SCHEME CLIENTS

We are aware that there are a few problems and interruptions with the Healthy Pet Scheme subscription cancellations due to the direct debit switch to Easy Direct Debits (EDD) from GoCardless.

This is an external issue, as oppose to a practice issue but please be reassured that we are aware and are working behind the scenes to correct these interruptions as quickly as possible.

If you have concerns, or have been affected by this issue, please email Anne-Marie at [email protected]. Please be advised that we are experiencing a high volume of these emails so please bear with us as we work tirelessly to resolve this issue.

We will be in touch with those affected in due course.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Did you know that you can Microchip your rabbits too?
Rabbits have been known to escape their gardens so microchipping them is a good way for them to be identified, should they get handed in somewhere. Microchipping gives you that peace of mind, should your pet go walkabouts!

A useful guide from the RSPCA to follow if you find a wandering Gull Chick!

‼️Gull Chicks‼️

This time of year, you may find gull chicks on the floor that are still too young to fly. The best thing to do for healthy chicks is get them back onto the roof they came from, back with their parents, together in the wild. If they are injured, please call us on 🔹0300 123 0723🔹 or bring them to your nearest vet.

Young gulls can also be placed on nearby high surfaces, such as a shed or conservatory roof. An umbrella can be used as a shield if the adults are anxious about their baby being handled. The parents will protect their chicks from predators.

If you are unsure what to do, or have any concerns, you can call us on 🔹0300 123 0723🔹or message our facebook, and we can advise you on next steps. If you don't get through first try, please try again - our wildlife team answers phones as well as looking after patients, so sometimes we may have our hands full at that moment.
