I am always asked for recommendations for dog training equipment and enrichment ideas, because of this I have added a shop on my website with links to everything I use. If there is anything else you would like me to add please let me know π

To get the perfect settle around high distractions I always recommend starting on a high rise bed, this is an obvious boundary which sets the rules perfectly from the beginning.
Gradually you can remove the bed and know the settle behaviour is solid.
These beds are also good for dogs with joint pains as they are raised off the floor.
Here is the link for you to copy and paste of the ones we use in training and are the best value beds I have found π

I think it is so important for every dog to be muzzle trained, hopefully you will never need to use one.
However if your dog has an accident and is in pain and stressed it is much more likely to have a shorter fuse and bite someone. I would rather my dogs were comfortable wearing one and never need it, than being in a situation where I am adding more stress by putting one on them.
There are other reasons dogs may need to wear a muzzle
βͺοΈscavengers - some dogs will eat anything and make themselves poorly, a muzzle stops this
βͺοΈrecovering - some dogs may have had surgery and are biting their stitches, a muzzle stops this
βͺοΈbanned breed - some dogs are on the banned breed list, even though they may be the sweetest dog, the law requires them to be muzzled in public or they can be seized by the police, a muzzle stops this
βͺοΈNervous - some dogs live on their nerves because of past trauma and experiences among other things, as humans who live like this are much quicker to snap at others, so are dogs, their teeth are just sharper than ours! a muzzle stops this.

Having fun in the sun with a little heelwork practise between lessons today
Watching your human sister and team mates run around on a pitch when you're bred to herd is tough! This time last year Blake would have wanted to get 'involved'.
The work this team has put in is outstanding, Blake can now sit calmly on the side lines for a whole game , very impressive work team Blake π
π DOG/ HUMAN ETIQUETTE π
Working in Weston this morning I was taken aback with the amount of dogs running upto a dog in training, who also happens to be an assistance dog.
All of the dogs were super friendly and intrigued in what we were doing, none of them reacting in a bad way to any of us, each of those dogs has just as much right to be in that park as we did.
However I feel it is common courtesy that if you see a dog working or just being called back into their owner, to also call your dog back and carry on your walk, you don't know that owner or dogs situation, it is not fair to put any dog in a position they are uncomfortable with.
Did you know that if your dog attacked an assistance dog in the UK it is regarded as an aggravated offence and carries a maximum punishment of 3 years in prison.
Fantastic work from the wonderful Jax being able to ignore the distractions π
I'm so lucky to love my job this much π π
Once you have perfected a skill at home, proof the behaviour by taking it to the outside world, just reduce your expectations with distractions and they will start to realise the behaviour can be done everywhere and not just at home. This applies to all behaviours from a sit to recall and tricks.
Our next step is to get her body straight and less wiggly!
