Meet Miko! This sweet and hardworking girl isn’t just adorable—she’s also a full-time assistance dog! Although Miko is young, fit, and healthy, her regular physiotherapy sessions play a vital role in keeping her comfortable and happy in both her life and work.

As part of her job, Miko often holds tension in her neck and back muscles from frequently looking up at her owner. To address this, her sessions include a combination of massage techniques and laser therapy, which help her feel her best.

Miko’s incredible owner also plays an active role in her care by following Miko’s personalized remedial exercise plan. This helps maintain Miko’s fitness, balance, and flexibility, while reducing the symptoms she displayed when we first started her treatments.

I always look forward to our sessions as she is just the sweetest girl, keep up the good work Miko! 🫶🏼🐾

✨How can physiotherapy help working and sporting dogs?✨

1. Enhanced Performance

Physiotherapy helps to improve muscle strength, flexibility, and joint mobility, which can significantly enhance a dog’s physical performance. For active dogs or those involved in sports like agility, working, or obedience, physiotherapy can help them reach their peak potential by optimizing movement patterns, reducing muscular imbalances and treating any physical limitations that they may have.

2. General Wellbeing

Regular physiotherapy promotes overall wellness by relieving muscle tension, improving circulation, and providing pain relief for conditions such as arthritis. It also aids in relaxation, making it suitable for all dogs, including seniors or those with chronic conditions, to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

3. Injury Prevention and Recovery

By addressing areas of tightness, weakness, or imbalance, physiotherapy reduces the risk of injury during training or daily activities. For dogs recovering from surgery or injury, tailored physiotherapy programs facilitate faster and more effective healing, allowing them to get back to their activities safely.
