How hard is it to find a dog bed that ticks all the boxes? That's why I started making my own!

All the beds include;
Memory foam filling
A water resistant layer (to protect the foam)
Removable (and hardwearing) washable outer cover

The beds are made to order and come in 4 sizes;
Small - 45cm x 60cm (£50)
Med - 60cm x 80cm (£75)
Large - 75cm x 100cm (£90)
XL - 90cm x 120cm (£110)
Prices above are for shredded memory foam, cut to size mattress style varies.

Have you heard...

This travel mat is so versatile! The first travel mat was made so that we could take a little bed, that was easy to pop in a bag, when we went out, so the pup would know where to settle down.

We also use our mat as:
A training mat
Seat cover
A variation of the foraging mat (by folding and hiding treats)
A cosy bed blanket

Using as this as a training mat is really helping us with being calm at home (which in turn has helped when we're out). We are using this by the front door - to make sure we are settled and calm before going for a walk, or if we have someone come to the door, the pup knows where to go, and to (eventually) remain calm.

The pups will need to get used to settling on the travel mat at home, before using somewhere new, they won't automatically know 'this is my mat and I chill out here', especially when there are lots of new smells to explore.

Have you heard...

I think it's about time there was an introduction 😊 With yesterday's Valentines love, let's share the love and passion behind Dedham Dog Co (apart from pups of course!).

The company is set up by a dog mad owner who has a background in sewing and a love of baking, driven with one goal in mind – happy pups. The dog beds are crafted with love, using memory foam for our dogs’ comfort, as well as the practicalities for us humans, including a removable washable cover and a water resistant under-layer to protect the foam. Rolled into one bed, there are cosy fabrics for snoozing and also fabrics carefully selected to become a part of the room décor.

Since experiencing a number of dietary changes, I am far more aware of what I eat, which means I am also rather fussy what the pups are fed too. Therefore, only human ingredients are used to make the cakes and treats, which are of course safe and healthy for dogs too, without any nasty additives.

With mental stimulation being so important, I have also started making something that we use a lot at home - a foraging mat.

These items are made to order and we are as flexible as possible for requests, in order to create well-loved items. This could be anything from amending treat recipes, to making cushions to match the dog bed. There are lots of new ideas underway at the moment, but if you have anything you need in the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have you heard...

We only get one planet, so whilst treating the pups, we want to do all we can to play our part in treating this one right. It is early days here at Dedham Dog Co. so are still learning how to improve things at this end, but so far we have included things like;
Treat boxes made of recycled card
Biodegradable plastic bags
Some eco fabrics (using recycled cotton that is not bleached or dyed)
Even the treats are baked on re-usable parchment paper (and that's been used a lot!)

We would like to ask customers really nicely to recycle what they can, whether it's popping our paper bags in the recycling box or if possible re-using any ribbons.
Of course, any ideas to improve things are always welcome!

Have you heard...

These treats and cakes are made without any preservatives, using human foods that are safe for dogs, and everything is gluten free. Ingredients that dogs should not eat too much of, are kept to a minimum within these, for example ingredients such as cheese.
All of the cakes and treats are fresh and will need to be stored in the fridge, so unfortunately these are only for local customers at the moment, as they cannot be posted. At the moment, treats are a standard gluten free recipe and are adapted to your dog’s allergies or preferences. However, there is work on a recipe that is suitable to be popped in the post and currently being tested with some willing volunteers.
Cakes are 4”, but are recommended to be more than one portion. Cakes can also be ‘iced’, using foods such as blueberries that have been blended. The cakes come boxed and are £15 or £20 delivered locally.
Treats also come boxed in approx. 14 bones (55g) and cost £8 or 110g for £12.
Please do discuss any allergies/intolerances that your dog may have before placing orders, to make sure the recipe is amended correctly. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Have you heard...

It’s important for dog’s to have mental stimulation, as well as physical exercise. A foraging mat is a one of many examples of mental stimulation/enrichment we can provide our dogs, which can;

mentally tire them out

teach problem solving skills

can prevent boredom (and therefore unwanted behaviours)

enjoyment for them! Some also say that dogs like working for their food

These sorts of activities are a good addition to walks, they particularly help to encourage puppies to play by themselves or keep older/recovering dogs busy, if they are unable to do less walking.

Foraging mats are really simple to use, simply shake the mat (so all the fabric is standing up) and sprinkle on food (we recommend dry) or treats and let the sniffing commence. If the mats get a little bit mucky over time, you can pop them in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash.
