New arrival Stuart has been with us for just over a week now, and he has settled in like a dream!

This incredibly handsome boy has a beautiful personality to match his gorgeous little face. Stuart is gentle, kind, and affectionate, making each day a joy with his presence.

During his first dog test, Stuart proved to be exceptional. He displayed calmness, politeness, and good manners, showing us that he is comfortable around other breeds.

In a meet the breed appointment, he interacted with children and showed a deep affection for them, making it clear that he would thrive in a family setting.

Stuart would be an amazing family dog, perfect for first-time owners looking to adopt a greyhound. While he is still adjusting to his new environment, his early days with us have already revealed what a perfect boy he is. We have no doubt that he will excel in his forever home, bringing endless love and joy to his new family.

Clients often ask about our terms and conditions regarding payment for longer term bookings so we thought we would put them on here.

We may require a deposit of up to 50% to secure the booking. We will let you know if/when this applies.

The balance is to be paid before or when you drop off at the “dog-otel”.

Cash, bank transfer or PayPal are all fine. You can choose whichever is the most convenient for you.

Happy St Guinefort's Day!

Today is St. Guinefort day. St. Guinefort is the greyhound Saint who, legend says, saved the baby of a French Knight whilst the family were out and the baby was threatened by a snake. Guinefort, the greyhound, made the ultimate sacrifice as the family initially suspected he had killed the infant (after returning home and seeing blood). However, they later realised the dog had saved the baby and commemorated his life with a well, from which miracles are said to have been performed to aid sick children.

St. Guinefort's prayer can speak to those of all faiths (and none) and those who love greyhounds and all animals. (It is also used in memory of all loved dogs who are no longer with us).

SAINT GUINEFORT PRAYER

Saint Guinefort, O holy dog, slain by thy master’s hand.

A martyr made of this good boy, most brave in all the land.

You saved a babe from venom’s fate brought forth by viper’s bite.

Protect us please, like that small child, throughout the day and night.

We vow henceforth to do our best to never act in haste, for as your master struck you down, God laid his home to waste.

But vengeance never rights a wrong, the past is carved in stone.

Yet dogs forgive their master’s faults, and faultless dogs atone.

May humans strive to have pure hearts so generous and true, thus echoing God’s boundless love, exemplified by you.

We don't have pics of dogs but we do have this video of horses from the Garrison that is worth getting up for at 6.30am to see them being washed and cooled down on the beach in Barbados. ❤️

So, if you ain't gonna let me in when I want to come in, I'll have to let myself in!

Greyhounds, Labradors, Cockerpoos...... all are welcome

Having both been made redundant, the decision was made to move from Chingford in London to West Bergholt in 2017, into a spacious “dog friendly” house. The house had to be ideal for boarding with sufficient space, number of rooms etc. - we even have AstroTurf in the garden which incidentally I cannot recommend enough. When in Chingford, we cared for mainly greyhounds, friends dogs, friends of friends dogs, on a small scale. The Spoilt Dog was then set up to offer day care and short/long term boarding for all breeds of dogs.

We have always loved all breeds of dogs but our greyhound Floydy taught us just what a fantastic, gentle, loving breed they are, hence our passion for greyhounds. For anybody who has a greyhound, they will know that they are quite different from other breeds and, consequently, greyhound owners are usually only happy to let someone with grey experience look after their babies! The Spoilt Dog has that experience. (By the way, we are totally against greyhound racing).

We do love to board all breeds (but not unneutered dogs) and are fully aware of the huge responsibility that brings - it is akin to parents choosing a childminder for their children and we always feel hugely privileged when entrusted to care for clients’ fur babies. It is not our intention to have a large scale business here; we prefer to keep it low key with fewer dogs but inevitably, during busy months and crossover days, we may have more dogs than usual.

Clients are more than welcome to visit us and we always insist on a sniff and greet meeting so we can meet the dog/s and they get to know their new holiday-home before being left for boarding.
