Squishy is 5 days post corneal transposition surgery, and is healing well, I took him to the specialist vet yesterday and he was happy with his recovery so far, he has to keep having drops and will need some of them for life, particularly as we now know he is gradually losing the sight in his other eye, but that’s a problem for another day. For now, he has to keep his distance from Hugo, and wear the cone of doom for a little longer, to ensure he carries on healing. And the insurance company has agreed to reimburse us for the surgery! It’s a Christmas miracle 🙏🏻

Two days post surgery - Little bug has finally got his eye open today, it’s hard to say how he’s recovering as getting medications into him is like wrestling a jellied eel covered in Vaseline. But this has to be a good sign 🤞🏽🐾

Squishy is home, he had to have surgery this afternoon, as it was too dangerous to wait on green light from the insurance company. It went well and in time we’re hopeful his eye will heal, but the aftercare will be intense, he’s got three different eye drops to have every 4 hours, an eye serum of his blood plasma and then a cream for the other eye that turns out has scar tissue in it, he also has to have oral painkillers and antibiotics twice a day. He’s got to wear a cone of shame too, which he’s not a fan of and it’s getting him quite stressed.

Hugo won’t stop barking and trying to get to him, so we’ve locked him away in the spare room to rest in the dark. His little snores melt my heart. I love him so much ❤️🐾

Update on Squishy, who’s having a poopy time with an eye ulcer. Tonight we are all missing him terribly, as he’s been left at Debenham vets for a few days while the experts decide what to do. Little bug was scheduled to have a lens fitted under sedation, at our local vets this morning, to protect his eye and promote healing. However, things took a turn super rapidly, and they felt he needed an emergency referral. He’s likely to have surgery over the weekend, if the insurance company gives the nod. The optometrist also identified scar tissue on his other eye, indicating he may already be partially blind, of which we had no idea, so of course now we’re even more determined to save his eye! 🥺 Please send positive healing thoughts his way 🙏🏻

Little bugs eye is not doing much better, so he’s got to go to the vet tomorrow and have sedation and a lense sewn into his eye to protect it 🙁
