I say it a lot but walking a dog for miles, isn’t necessarily the best quality walk and can just create an athlete. If you want to physically and mentally tire them, they need to use their senses. Encourage this and you’ll have a calmer life!
All dog owners can relate! Keep your eye on the prize, people! 💩🔍
🎆 Bonfire Night Awareness 🎆
Bonfire Night can be a tough time for many, not just for animals but for people too. The loud bangs and bright flashes from fireworks can cause stress and anxiety for dogs, cats, wildlife, and for people in our communities—especially the elderly, those with sensory sensitivities, and individuals with certain disabilities.
If you or your pets struggle with fireworks, here are some ways to create a calm environment tonight:
🟠 Set up a safe space – For pets, create a cosy spot with their favourite blanket or toy, where they can retreat from the noise and flashes. For people, drawing curtains and using soft lighting indoors can help reduce the impact of bright flashes. You can also try instigating gentle play with your dog when the bangs start. It worked surprisingly well with my old labrador. If they don't want to play, don't force it. Always comfort your dog if they're scared and don't ignore them like some "trainers" would tell you - it's nonsene.
🟠 Mask the noise – Playing calming music or turning on the TV can balance out sudden bangs, creating a more soothing background. Classic FM always play music for animals tonight.
🟠 Walk pets early – Try to walk dogs before dark to keep them safe indoors when fireworks start.
Let’s remember those who find this night distressing and support quieter, more considerate celebrations in the future. Stay safe, everyone.

PS: Excuse the weird heavy breathing. We’d just finished an hour long walk and I clearly needed a sit down and cuppa! 😂
Quality dog training treats can be expensive and cheaper ones can be full of junk. Here's an easy recipe for you to try at home.

Introducing Senior Dog Wellness Walks.
Tailored walks designed for dogs aged 10 and older, focusing on relaxation, comfort, and gentle enrichment. Available every Friday at 2pm. Only £15 per dog, including pick-up and drop-off.
As dogs enter their golden years, they deserve walks that prioritise their changing needs. My Senior Dog Wellness Walks offer your dog a fulfilling and relaxing experience that goes beyond just physical exercise. These walks are designed to nurture their mind, body, and wellbeing.
What makes these walks special:
Gentle enrichment: Each walk includes enrichment activities that stimulate your dog’s mind while being gentle enough for older dogs. These activities are tailored to their abilities, providing just the right balance of mental engagement and relaxation.
Comfortable travel: Your dog will ride in a van fitted with memory foam bedding for maximum comfort, and climate control ensures they are kept cool or warm depending on the weather.
Small, personalised groups: I keep group sizes small—only 3 dogs per walk—to ensure a peaceful, calm experience and personalised care.
Relaxation time: Walks are one hour, but we take plenty of time to stop, relax, and enjoy the environment. It’s all about creating a soothing, enjoyable experience for your dog.
Muddy days? No problem: If your dog gets dirty on a wet day, I offer a warm shower before they head home, so they’ll always return clean and comfortable.
My Senior Dog Wellness Walks are perfect for dogs aged 10+ who need more care and focus during their outings. Whether your dog is slowing down, has mobility issues, or simply enjoys a more relaxed pace, this service ensures their walks are both enriching and fulfilling.
Walks take place every Friday at 2pm, and are available exclusively to dogs in West Colchester and surrounding areas. Limited spots are available, so to join these special walks, the first step is to book a meet and greet. This allows me to get to know you and your
