💫CHRISTMAS APPOINTMENTS💫

Christmas week is fully booked, there is limited space available the week before message me asap to get an appt before theyre gone!
Space the start of December too get booked in as early as possible to get the best dates and times that suit you! 😁

I'll do my best to fit everyone in but as I am by myself there's limited space.

Here's a wee update on some of my lovely clients❤️

❗️I will be unavailable from 15th - 23rd August❗️

If youd like to get booked in before or after these dates message now to get an appointment as spaces are limited!

UPDATE

🐾LATE- If you're more than 15 mins late for your appointment there may not be enough time for me to complete groom and appoinment may need to be rescheduled.

🐾NO SHOW- I do my best to send out reminders the day before, although as you can tell im very forgetful..😅 I will let you know that you've missed your appointment and we can reschedule, I understand that things come up but if this is a reoccurring problem I will have to add on a no show fee or deposit for the next groom.

🐾CANCELLATIONS- if you need to cancel its no problem! Although, please let me know 24 hours in advance to allow me time to schedule in another pooch waiting for their groom, again I understand that things happen but if this is a reoccurring problem I will add on a cancellation fee if it's less than 24 hours notice.

🐾PICK UP- if you're going to be late to pick up just let me know beforehand usually im about anyway! However, sometimes that is not the case, if you're more than 30 mins late after I text that your pooch is ready I may have to charge dog sitting fee as this could leave me late with the remainder of my day/grooms.

Good info for maintenance on our long haired pooches have a read on coat care for the winter! Lisa Hart Grooming❣️
Full grooms, mini grooms, bath, brush and nail trimming all available at Central Bark to help with you with the upkeep and to help your pups feel clean, happy and matt free!

Lets talk about Winter coat care 🌧

Along with Winter comes rain and snow which means extra care is needed to keep your dog’s coat in tip top condition.

A lot of customers generally ask for their dogs coat to be kept longer in winter but it is actually much better for your dog and their coat to keep them at their regular length or even think about taking them a little shorter.

Why?
Extra length means your pet actually holds water which in turn makes them colder and they stay wet for longer. This can also cause sores on your pets belly and between the toes due moisture.
Most dogs spent 90% of their day indoors with central heating and tend to go on shorter walks during the winter months due to bad weather and less daylight hours so the extra hair you feel they need to keep warm may not actually be necessary.

Here are a few tips on the ways you can help keep your dogs coat in better condition this winter…

•Instead of rubbing your dog with a towel, pat them dry, rubbing causes friction and damage which in turn causes matting.

•If you notice your dog has any tangles in their coat brush these out before taking them out in the rain or on return rinse them and brush out while the coat is still wet, I know this sounds crazy as we are always taught not to brush our hair wet.
A small tangle when wet gets tighter as it dries and extra hair joins the tangle creating a mat. So if it is necessary to rinse your dog, pat dry with a towel then spray with a little leave in conditioner and brush while still wet. This will stop a tangle from turning in to a mat which can pull on your dog’s skin and insure the coat stays healthy and free from damage.

•If you do want to keep your pet longer for winter it is actually advised to have them groomed more often!
Why?
When a coat is not trimmed regularly but you are brushing it is like our hair, it becomes damaged, which in turn makes the coat harder to manage, also matting against the skin will hold water longer and cause pain.
So it is actually better for the coat to have regular baths and trims rather than leaving the coat to grow but this is the case at any time of year, not just winter.

I am always happy to do mid groom bath, brush and tidies if you are struggling with up keep at home.
Bringing your dog in more regularly ensures we can keep your chosen style and length rather than having no option other than to go short due to matting and damage.
If you do struggle, please message me, your pets comfort and keeping your dog in the style you like is always my top priority. 🧡🍂

I agree, recommend the read👍🏼
I’m happy to help all dogs, aggressive or scared! Most of the aggressive dogs are just scared and not used to being groomed, there’s ways I can work with them to help make them as happy and comfortable as possible!
By being honest this helps us to understand what the dog needs and what they are uncomfortable with, it also helps by letting us know so we can avoid any unnecessary stress for your dog.
Humanity over vanity! Yes I’ll always try to make your dogs ‘look’ good but as long as they FEEL good I’m happy😄
I’ll always put your dogs welfare first, my main aim is to make your dogs as happy and comfortable as possible.
Time and patience is key to helping your dogs who just don’t like to be groomed or are scared, my salon is mainly 1 to 1 so that I can put all my time and care into working with your dog each time to gradually show them that being groomed is a good thing and can actually be enjoyable for them! 😁

MORE INFORMATION ON HAND-STRIPPING🔽

What is HAND-STRIPPING? ✂️
A grooming process that involves removing dead hairs from the coat by hand instead of clipping to keep the coat tidy and healthy.

Hand stripping targets the older hairs, these older dull hairs are easy to pull out and by doing so they leave room for new stronger hairs to grow through. This ensures that the coat will have a fuller, shinier texture and a more vibrant colour.

It’s recommended instead of clipping or scissor cutting because rather than removing old hairs these methods simply cut the old dull hairs. In doing so fresh new hairs don’t have the room to grow through. More importantly, by clipping your wire haired dog’s coat you can prevent the coat growing properly and it may not be possible to handstrip in future.
