This little Cutie Tootie is Marble 💗

Shes a wee staffy cross and although she doesn't need much grooming, her mum brought her in for a wee puppy pamper 💦

Marble had a bath & dry, a tiny nail trim, ears cleaned and we got her used to the rubber brush ✅

ℹ️ There are alot of new sounds and smells at the groomers so early introduction to the process helps them learn to enjoy grooming and accept it as part of their routine. 🤞🐶

🦷 Lets Talk Teeth 😬

How often do you check your pets teeth ❓️

Pic 1 shows healthy teeth & gums whereas Pic 2 shows tartar build up and potential dental disease. This can lead to a whole host of related health problems 😖

🧐 We will always routinely check your pets teeth & gums during the grooming appointment and will communicate any reasonable concerns, however daily measures at home are required for good overall dental hygiene 🪥

This gorgeous girlie was in yesterday for her 1st puppy pamper and aced it 🏆

Puppies can often appear a little nervous on arrival but Sasha was as cool as a cucumber 😎 She lapped up all the attention & a few treats too 😜

We are looking forward to seeing this sweet girl again soon 💕

Same Dog, Different Ears 👀

🟡 A healthy dogs ear is clean and dry. A small amount of pale coloured wax in the outter ear is normal, as part of the ears self cleaning system 👂

🟤 Excessive dirt, dark brown wax, redness, swelling, bad smell or discharge can be a signs of a bacterial or yeast infection and a trip to the vet is required 🆘

‼️ Left untreated, ear infections can become very painful and can lead to permanent damage to the middle and inner ear 😟

✅️ We check all pets ears during their visit with us and will inform owners if we discover anything worrisome. ⛑️

‼️ Is your pet Flea and Tick protected ❓️

🌡A change in weather from cooler to warmer temperatures is the perfect environment for these pests to start breeding ☀️

An infestation of fleas can take hold quickly in an untreated pet and can be difficult to get under control (3 months or more) 😲

Ticks can leave a nasty infection and the risk of Lymes disease if not removed or removed incorrectly.

🐶 If your pet is treated regularly, as per vet guidance, fleas and ticks won't get the opportunity to set up home on your pet ✅️

➡️ Please remember to treat all animals in the home including cats 🐈‍⬛

🚫 If we discover fleas on your pet during the appointment, we won't be able to complete the groom and you will be asked to collect straight away 🚫

👋 Everyone say hello to wee fluff ball Stevie 🧡
Today was his first ever trip to the groomers 💦 He settled in so well and was the calmest puppy on the table 🙌

🐶 Stevie will be gently eased into the grooming process, with 2-3 puppy grooms before he gets his first big boy cut ✂

♦️Early socialisation at the groomers is essential, from 1 week after 2nd vaccinations is the ideal time 🕒

Check your Pets Nails ‼️

📸 The first 2 photos show the unnatural position of the toes due to the excessive nail growth 😮 This is very painful and your pet will be really unhappy 🥺

📸 The next 2 photos show the nails trimmed up. They no longer touch the table and the toes have returned to the natural positon ✅️

🐕 If your pet is regularly walked on hard ground or has the run of a pathed back yard then the nails will likely wear down naturally (except dew claws).

⚠️ But if your pet is regularly walked on soft ground such as the forest 🌲 or beach 🏖 then the ground is too soft to do the job so regular nail trims are essential 🆘️

**All grooms include nail trim if required**

Newbies Beau 💙 & Belle 💖

Who doesn't love a cute Frenchie never mind two ✌ 😍

Belle was a little nervous when she arrived but as you can see, the treats did the trick 😋

Quite often, paw parents can be nervous also when leaving their pet with a groomer for the first time and that's ok!

We won't give you treats 😅 but we can give plenty of feedback on how your pet settled in during their visit and some tips on how to move forward if you and / or your pet are very nervous.

👂Ears Before & After 👂

It is not always necessary to pluck a dogs ears, as many breeds don't have hair growing in the ear canals and for those that do, a little hair serves a purpose.

However, when the entire ear canal is plugged with hair, gentle plucking techniques can be used ✅️

➡️ We will only pluck a dogs ears as long as the dog is tolerant of the process and at the owners request / permission.

If there are any signs of infection 🦠 or if there is excess waxy build up, we will recommend you consult with your vet. Plucking should not be painful and if your pet is in any discomfort we won't proceed with the process.

📸 Young Teddy 🧸 was definitely in need! The process only took a few moments and he was definitely hearing alot better after 😲

This is no surprise, given their energetic personalities, lively nature and never ending waggy tails 🐕

They thrive on hooman contact & are one of the most cuddly breeds 💫

I'm not sure if it's possible but this boy might actually love dogs more than me 🥺💙

His wee face lights up with every single dog that walks through our doors and they all get a cuddle or two when he's around ✌

☀️ And now that schools out for summer, he will be on hand to give lots of cuddles on demand 🤗 🐶 😘

Today we welcomed puppy Bella & what ALOT of puppy she was 🤩

🖤 Bella is a 6 month old Newfoundland, with all the usual characteristics of a lively, playful puppy but on a much larger scale 😅

Thankfully Bella was very calm, gentle & affectionate so the entire process was a breeze for her & us 🙌

💕 We look forward to having this sweet girl back in 8 weeks time, although she will likely be double the size 🙈

Tick & Flea Season in full swing 😬

🌲Your walk in the forest could end up with a trip to the vet & a £100 bill if those pesky ticks take hold and infection sets in 🦠

Avoid areas with long grass and check your pet after walks 🐕

Also, if your pet does not get routinely flea treated then an infeststion can take months to get under control 😟

Speak with your vet who will provide the corrrect dosage of insect repellent to ensure your pet is on the right path to a happy & healthy summer ☀️

Cockers by nature are gentle, easy going & affectionate and this little chap was exactly all that 👌

💦 Regular grooming approximately 6-8 weekly is recommended for cocker spaniels to maintain a healthy coat & a happy pet 🐶

Brachycephalic Breed Owners PLEASE READ❗️

☀ Summer is upon us and although temperatures are still below 20 degrees at the moment, stay aware and be prepared for the hotter days🌡

➡️ All dogs will struggle with the increase in temperatures but shorter nosed/flat face dogs such as pugs, bulldogs and shihtzu will be most affected 😟

❗️Reduce the risk of heat stroke by making sure your pet has fresh water 💦 access to shady cooler areas and is walked at cooler times if the day ✅️

🌤 It's unlikely that the good old Northen Irish Summer will stay long but for now, stay cool 😎

On holiday in Turkey 🇹🇷 & feeling absolutely lucky & blessed to have this family time ❤

But I can't help feeling so sorry for the stray dogs we have encountered 😟 and I don't know anything abour animal rescue centres here 🐾

These poor souls just roam the streets, hoping for a morsel of grub. We didn't have food but this guy was so grateful for water he drank it out of our palms 🥺 🤲

We came back to the same spot today, with a kebab for our friend but he was nowhere to be seen 🥲 We did find 3 others though who happily lapped up the grub.

I don't really know the point of this story, only that it has made me think how lucky our own pets are & to appreciate the endless work our many local rescue centres do keeping dogs off the streets 🙏🫶 🐶
