Meet our very special boy Peter 🥰 who came into our care due to welfare concerns. This beautiful, luscious long haired boy hasn't been in our care for too long but has already stolen the hearts of many of our small animal staff and volunteers with his shy but sweet, gentle nature 💕
Peter is a shy guy and can struggle with fast movements, loud noises and unfamiliar people. Our staff have observed Peter displaying a behaviour known as 'scanning' which we feel is having an impact on his confidence, although with a predictable routine and his items within his enclosure staying in the same place and a very gentle approach Peter is slowly finding his paws 🐾 in our small animal unit and growing in confidence day by day with the help of tasty treats and veggies 🍏🍓🥦of course. Our small animal staff are more than happy to discuss his behaviour further with any potential adopters.
We feel Peter would be best suited to living indoors within a calm, quiet household with children of secondary school age or older.
Peter has recently been castrated and would be able to be gradually bonded with a female rabbit. We feel having a calm, friendly female by his side will give him the reassurance and comfort he is desperately seeking.
Our minimum requirement for a pair is 3m x 2m x 1m (our SAU staff will be happy to discuss suitable accommodations)

Cosmo is a young male at only approximately 1 year old. ❤
Cosmo is a rambunctious and sweet guy who loves to play! When he arrived, he was initially wary of his new surroundings but quickly settled and showed our team what a wonderful boy he is ❤
Cosmo would prefer to be the only pet in the home due to his timid nature, but we feel that he could live with children as he absolutely loves to play!
Cosmo will eventually need access to the outside world (once he's settled in) as he finds a lot of enrichment and joy in being outside and can usually be found in his outrun watching the birds 🏡

💜 These girls love exploring and are very inquisitive, They are indeed partners in crime and can never resist getting into mischief.
🧡 Cardboard boxes make great hiding places, provide lots of enrichment but for these two any box is in place for them to be able to do their super adorable meerkat impressions.
💚Open spaces give ample opportunity for these girls to zoomie and Binky to their hearts content.
🩷 Their most favourite thing of all is......of course food. A crinkle of a bag and these girls are running straight over. You will forever be in there hearts 🥰 with a tasty treat or two.

Meet our loveable lad Enzo.
This gorgeous boy is a very chilled, laid back lad who loves ❤️ nothing more than filing his tummy up with hay and tasty treats 🥬🍎🥦
Enzo also loves to flop on his side and snooze 😴 to his little hearts content.... It is always an AWW moment when we see him so relaxed!!!
Enzo came into our care as part of a prosecution case along with many other rabbits unfortunately they had been living in poor conditions but this hasn't deterred Enzo and he is such a sweet boy who especially loves treat time and will come straight over to greet all our staff and volunteers.
We feel Enzo would really benefit from having a female companion by his side as he isn't the most confident boy when it comes to exploring new surroundings and can be a little worried at times. We feel a confident, friendly wifebun will provide him with the security and comfort he is seeking and bring out his more cheeky chappy nature.
We currently feel that Enzo would be better suited to an indoor home during the winter months due to the outside world being a little worrying for him but feel once he was a wifebun by his side and the weather begins to warm up he could live outdoors.

❤️ GORGEOUS GUINEA PIGS❤️
Currently we have 5x castrated male guinea pigs looking for their furever homes 🏡
Our beautiful boys came into our care after there were concerns for their welfare. They are for sure cheeky, mischievous and full of fun 🥰. They bring lots of joy and laughter within our small animal unit especially when they are nattering, chattering and wheeking away when they hear the crinkle of veg coming their way 🥦🥬🍎
These boys could either be adopted as a trio, a pair or be bonded along with a herd of ladies 💕
They will need to be housed indoors provided they are given adequate space, toys, tunnels and hides

Fresh veg is the key 🗝️ to all of our guinea pigs hearts ❤️ especially our gorgeous pair of guineas Hercules & squash
Hercules and squash found eachother in RSPCA care after there were concerns for their welfares. Both boys came into our care along with other guinea pigs and thankfully after several weeks of getting to know eachother they became the best of buddy's 🥰 and are now much more mischievous, cheeky and always put a big smile on our face each time they welcome us with a few natters, chatters and wheeks!!!

Guinea pigs unlike many other small animals have a special dietary requirement. Guinea pigs require vitamin C to be provided to them within their diet on a daily basis due to not being able to produce it themselves.
🐾Upto 85 - 90% of their diets should be hay
🐾 15% should be fresh vegetables and greens such as: kale, spinach, bell peppers, parsley, tomatoes, dandelion leaves, broccoli, coriander, mint, Spring greens.
🐾 5% good quality, hay based pellets
🐾 Fresh water
We currently also have 6x castrated male guinea pigs in our care looking for their furever homes also. All our guinea pigs love to serenade our staff with many wheeks and squeaks especially when they hear a crinkle of a veg bag.

🐰 BUNNY ENRICHMENT🐰
Enrichment is key in improving an animals welfare and their wellbeing. Here at BYM in order to keep our bunny's busy and keep them stimulated we love ❤️ to give them enrichment items with either their favourite treats or their pellets.
Why give enrichment ?🤔
Enrichment is key in animal welfare and for all our animals enrichment is a great way to improve their wellbeing, skills, confidence and encourage them to display more natural behaviours. In our small animal unit we love to give a variety of enrichment items such as:
🐾Busy boxes filled with hay, treats or pellets
🐾 Toilet roll tubes made into parcels or stuffed with hay
🐾 Treat dispensing balls
🐾 A variety of puzzle feeders
🐾 Edible items such as willow toys/chews, hay blocks, apple branches
🐾Diggy boxes
As you can see in our small animal unit we have lots of super smart 👏 bunnies who thoroughly enjoy enrichment and are very enthusiastic to show off their skills with all of our amazing supporters 💕

🎅 CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL🎅
To help spread some Christmas cheer with all the little and large animals we have in our care and to make their Christmas 🎄 a little more special whilst they wait for their furever homes 🏡 we would love ❤️ to give them all a little present with lots of tasty treats or toys inside.
If you would like to donate a Christmas shoebox for an animal at the centre, all you need to do is:
🎄 Wrap a shoebox
⭐ Fill it with shredded paper (no staples please!)
🎄 Add treats and toys for your chosen species. In our care currently we have lots of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs 🐶🐱🐰🐹
⭐ Pop a label on or just write which species it is for on the outside of the box
🎄 Drop it to the centre. Our reception area is open everyday except Wednesdays from 11am - 3pm
We will then dish them out for the animals to spread some festive cheer & joy over the Christmas period and will also share videos and pictures for all our supporters to show just how much the animals appreciated and enjoyed their present 🎁

These two gorgeous boys came into our care separately after both were found to be living in poor conditions and understandably there were concerns for their welfare.
Due to a blossoming friendship between these two over a period of time we have been able to successfully bond them together and they are now looking for a guinea pig home 🏡 to call their own ❤️
