RSPCA Animal Centre - Bryn-y-Maen

RSPCA Animal Centre - Bryn-y-Maen If you are looking to report an animal in distress or a Welfare Concern please contact 0300 1234 999 In return a pet will offer fun, friendship and loyalty.

The RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre is situated in the countryside with lovely sea views and surrounded by open fields and woodland, which provide a wonderful location for the rehabilitation and physical enjoyment of the animals. You will find us near Colwyn Bay in Conwy, North Wales, just off the B5113 Llanwrst Road, and a short drive from the A55 coastal road. What we do

We provide specialist

care for domestic and farm animals, and we often treat wildlife before release or transfer to dedicated wildlife centres. We spend a considerable amount of time with our animals getting to know them so that we can assess the kind of home and lifestyle they need. Then, when they are ready, we make every effort to find them a suitable home. Rehoming

At any one time we are caring for over 100 animals at the centre. Our animals are looking for someone to offer them a loving home, to be a friend and look after them. Funding

It costs the RSPCA over £1,300 a day to run Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre. We rely entirely on kind donations from people like you. If you would like to support us, or you have room in your home and in your heart to take on a rescue animal, please pay us a visit. If you would like to contribute in other ways, we also operate a volunteer programme and foster scheme. We look forward to seeing you. Regards

The staff at Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre

Pawsitive ending for Shadow 🐶❤

We have had a lovely pup-date from one of our adopted dogs, Shadow. 🧡 Shadow is living his life in luxury with long walks along the beach and plenty of snoozy spots in his forever home. 💤

Below is a message from Shadow's adopter - "Shadow is doing so well. He is settling in so well, making new friends human and animal alike. He has been off the lead on the beach and his recall was brilliant. Admittedly it was quiet, but he came back when called."

🐾 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION🐾

We currently have lots of guinea pigs in our care that are now looking for their furever homes 🏡 and families to call their own 🥰

Here is our little trio Lollipop, BonBon & sherbet
Lollipop came into RSPCA care after being removed from a multi guinea pig household of over 100+ guinea pigs. Lollipop came into our care heavily pregnant with her 2 babies Bon-Bon & sherbet to which they quickly made their appearance here at the centre soon after. Our small animal staff and volunteers have quickly fallen in love and can't resist watching them exploring and finding their paws.
Lollipop is curious and inquisitive in nature to which her two babies sherbet & Bon-Bon have followed suit to their mum's personality. They are both full of mischief and curiosity and loves to explore especially when they are given new items.

We are looking for our sugarlishious mum and her super sweet babies to find a home together as a trio.
This terrific lite trio would hugely benefit from going to a quiet household where with a gentle approach they can come on leaps and bounds even more.
They will need to be housed indoors provided they are given adequate space.
(C&C cages and small animal panel playpens make great accomodations as they can be increased and decreased in size although our small animal staff will be happy to discuss other suitable accomodations also)

Adoption appeal - Tinkerbelle 🧚‍♀️

This lovely lady is Tinkerbelle. Although Tink looks like she is away with the fairies, she is a real bright spark and loves playing enriching games and making new friends along the way. ❤

Tink loves spending time with her handlers and has made such a huge impact on the team human and dog alike. Belle is a confident lass and is always up for making new four legged friends. 🐶 Due to this, she absolutely could live with another dog but would need to meet them at our centre first. She could also live with upper primary school aged children ❤

Tinkerbelle is a high energy girl so is looking for an active family that love the outdoors. She would benefit from having 6 foot fencing in a secure garden and with plenty of time to show her new tricks as she is a clever lady 🏠🌲

If you'd like to sprinkle some fairy dust on two-year-old Tinkerbelle and submit your interest please complete the attached form and we will be in touch.

💙 Pawsitive Ending 🐶

You might have seen Kevin amongst a household of over 80 other spaniels looking quite sad on the RSPCA (England & Wales) page. Well, luckily for Kev he has landed on his feet and found his forever family. 🏠

With dogs like Kevin at the centre, they need plenty of slow introductions to normal everyday items which they haven't been exposed to previously. 💙 This means plenty of praise and of course, treats. ❤ Luckily for Kevin, his main handler Jodie spent each day building his confidence and exposing him to new things until he was ready to find his forever home.

After weeks of work with staff at the centre, Kev has settled into his forever home with his new family and has made some four legged friends among the way. 🐶 below are some lovely photos from Kev’s adopters showing his confident, cheeky self that we began to see at the centre 🩵

🏡 FOREVER HOME NEEDED! 🏡

Meet Osian, our beautiful, playful boy who's been waiting over 9 months for his forever family! 💔

Osian arrived with his siblings when he was just a tiny kitten, around 10-12 weeks old. He's watched most of them find their loving homes, but sadly, he's grown into adulthood here at RSPCA care without finding his own. 😿

Now almost a year old, Osian is still very much a kitten at heart! He absolutely loves to play and roll around. He's looking for a home where he'll get lots of fun play sessions, but also plenty of cuddles and affection, which he truly adores here at the centre. 😻

Osian could happily live with children of any age and potentially another cat. Since he hasn't had any experience with dogs, we feel a home without a dog would be best for this sweet boy.

If you feel that you can offer the forever home that Osian deserves to finally have, then please fill in one of our application forms linked below;

🏡 Looking for a home... again 💔

Meet Minnie 🤍
This sweet 3-year-old girl is an absolute sweetheart who thrives on companionship and a good fuss from her favourite people. Just look at those adorable "teddy bear" ears – the tips were removed due to sun damage, but it just adds to her unique charm. 🐻

Minnie's journey has been a little heartbreaking. Found as a stray in 2023 mothering 3 kittens, she found her forever home within months. Sadly, her beloved adopter recently passed away, and Minnie has found herself back in our care. The cattery environment can be understandably overwhelming for her, so she's a little timid at first, but once she trusts you, her loving personality shines through! 🥰

Because of her timid nature and past sun exposure, Minnie is looking for a quiet, indoor-only home where she can be the only pet. She'd prefer a calm environment, so any children in the home should be 11+. 🏡

If you have a quiet, loving home and are ready to give a special cat all the companionship and fuss she desires, Minnie might just be the perfect match for you so please fill in one of our application forms linked below.
She has so much love to give and deserves a calm, stable place to finally call her own!

🐾 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION🐾

Meet our little lady Zippy and as the name suggests she does indeed love to zip around her cage.

Sadly Zippy along with her friends Bungle and George were left abandoned at the side of the road. Despite the ordeal Zippy is as happy as a girl could be. She loves bopping her head above her bedding to greet our team members before tootling off to create another chamber of her very own.

Gerbils are very sociable and should not be kept alone, They naturally live in a group.
Zippy is looking for her very own female friend. Our small animal unit staff are happy to discuss bonding further with any potential adopters if you would like to introduce Zippy to your gerbil at home.

Zippy is looking for a home that is either a glass tank or a glass tank bottom with a wire frame above. It will need to be around 50cm high. We would advise to avoid plastic based cages as gerbils have the ability to chew through them very easily.

They will need to be provided with a variety of chew toys to gnaw on daily and an excercise wheel.

They will also need soft bedding material between 20 - 30 cm deep within their new enclosure to dig & burrow. We would advise to avoid fluffy style bedding and also sawdust due to health issues that may arise. Shredded paper, hay & tissue paper style bedding is suitable.

🐾BUNGLE & GEORGE🐾

Meet our dynamic little duo Bungle & George. These cheeky chappies were sadly left at the side of the road like garbage but lucky enough they were found and brought to BYM. Despite the ordeal these two are inquisitive, friendly and full of fun. Like many gerbils these boys are avid chewers and make fantastic cardboard recyclers... they can make even the biggest box teeny tiny

🤍 LOOKING FOR A HOME 🤍

This beautiful lady is Cindy! 😻

Cindy came into our care after being found as a heavily pregnant stray. After giving birth to her kittens and being a devoted Mother to them, Cindy is now ready to find a home of her own.

Cindy is estimated to be around 2 years old and hasn't had the best start to life. She is coming on leaps and bounds with learning how to trust humans but she just needs that caring and loving person to really build that budding bond with her. 🤍

We want Cindy to be equipped to thrive in her new home, so we feel that a quieter home with no pets and children aged 11 or over would be best for this girl.

If you feel that Cindy is the lady for you, then please fill in one of our application forms linked below;

🧡 ADOPTED 27/6 🧡

This beautiful guy is 2 year old Rambo! 🥰

Rambo found himself in our care after making his own way here! Rambo was living as a stray on and near our site for a bit of time before we were finally able to catch him to see if he had a home and give him a medical assessment.
Rambo was found to be in good health bar a few cuts and scratches, but sadly, no one came forward for him so now he is looking for a home to call his own.

Rambo has been understandably worried being in our cattery but has really shown our devoted cattery team that loving character he initially hid away. From starting as a terrified boy that hid all day every day, Rambo now spends his days waiting on his cat tree for the next person to give him a fuss! 😻

Rambo would benefit from a quiet home as we feel it is unlikely that he has been around humans much in his life, despite having a naturally loving temperament. He can be sensitive to loud noises and arrived as a stray with old wounds likely from cat fights, so we feel that Rambo would be happiest in a home with no other pets and children aged 11 or over who are experienced with cats. 🖤

If you feel that you have the loving home that Rambo deserves, then please fill in one of our application forms below;
https://forms.gle/vuiFZdtt4396u8vq9

Please note, we are unable to contact any unsuccessful applicants, so if you haven't heard from us within 10 days then it is likely that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion but we urge you to reapply for any suitable cats in the future.
