Otto has just completed his 10 week training course with Roger.

From our very first meeting I knew Roger was the right person for us. Otto was very reactive to both people and dogs, after an incident at daycare left him very fearful and untrusting of both.

In our first session, Roger managed to gain Otto’s trust and respect, meaning Otto was always excited for his next session.

We threw ourselves fully into the sessions, and the homework, and Otto having a “job” made him so much calmer and more responsive to his training.

I feel like we’ve learnt so much about Otto’s behaviour, body language and when and why he’s going to react. This has meant that we’re more confident when we go out, and the reactions are now few and far between. But if he does have the odd reaction, we recover quickly and move on.

We’ve still got a way to go, but Roger has equipped us with the tools and knowledge we need for a much happier, more confident dog.

I’m really looking forward to continuing with what we’ve learnt and enjoying walks again.

Just today we went for a day out where lots of dogs and kids were running around, and using the training Roger taught us, Otto was unfazed.

There’s a common misconception that a reactive dog needs more exposure to other dogs to “desensitize” or “socialize” them, but in many cases, this approach can actually exacerbate the problem. When a reactive dog is forced into situations where they’re overwhelmed—such as encountering other dogs too frequently or too closely—they can become even more stressed and anxious. This is often referred to as “flooding.”

If your reactive dog is pulling on the lead and not listening, it could be the environment you are walking them in is too difficult for them to cope and concentrate in.

Just finished my ten week course and wow what a journey it has been. When my French bulldog started behaving badly and showing what I thought was aggressive tendencies I contacted Roger. Roger helped me learn my dogs body language and helped me discover she was anxious , I went from thinking she was a bad dog to learning that most of all what she needed was guidance and reassurance. I’ve seen a drastic change in my dog tinkerbells behaviour and I’m more happy on a walk but most importantly she is. Roger offered round the clock support for simple things like dietary suggestions to how to tackle a new behaviour. The portal has worked wonders as sometimes as an owner you run out of ideas. I still have a long way to go with Tinkerbell but Roger’s gave me the confidence and the tools to build a better future for my dog and give her the support she needs to enjoy the world around her ! Before meeting Roger our golden retriever couldn’t go within 100m of another dog without losing interest in us and showing signs of aggression and anxiety.
After our course with Roger we now have a lovely dog who can be around other dogs without showing aggression or anxiety.
We can’t thank Roger enough for his expert help and guidance throughout the course and we now have a dog we are proud to take out in public

My poor pup has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia!!!
She is literally allowed 20 mins exercise per day.
She is not able to do any Igp training or chasing of any kind.

She is a very young dog with lots of energy and intelligence so I need to be able to facilitate her needs to help with her frustration and reactivity. We are doing lots of scent work, searching for her toy in the car park, searching the van and working on self control with her favorite toy. We are also working on her reactivity.

I am pleased to say she is doing amazing with her people and car reactivity despite having hip dysplasia and also starting her season.

If your dog is unable to do alot of exercise due to their health or age make sure to give them other outlets such as
Scent work
Trick training
Enrichment activities
Edible chews
General obedience
Toy play
Scatter feeding
Sniffy walks
Platform training
Also if your dog is reactive make sure you work on one trigger at a time at a location and distance that your dog can cope with and learn.
This will help set you both up for success.

Would love to hear your ideas for entertaining your dogs. 🐶🐾

Check out how well this lad is doing.
He would never check in with owners and would pull them down the road.
He was scared to put on a harness and had been taught that if you pull you get a correction from the handler.

Here he is walking beautifully with Dad!!
No correction or tension needed.

Keep up the great work guys.

Check this out!!!
When we started this poor dog had been to 3 aversive trainers and had a traumatic experience at the vets which made him lose all trust with his dad.
He would growl and even bite if touch or felt worried.

Unfortunately dad did most of the aversive training which broke his relationship with his best friend. I want to make it clear this was no fault of owners as they were paying these so called experts.

After just a couple of training sessions he is now sat back on dad’s lap and is offering interactions.
He is learning lots of new skills and is actually enjoying his training sessions.

Well done guys you are smashing it. 😃🐶🐾

🐾 Lower stress levels

🐾 Mentally challenging

🐾 Great way to build team work

🐾 Helps with life skills

🐾 To be able to think before reacting.

How could self control help your dog?

Rada is struggling with pain in her back leg which has increased her reactivity on walks and in the house.

She is unable to do any Igp training due to this so i needed another outlet to help her get mental stimulation and work on her reactivity to people and cars.

Here she is searching the carpark and my van whist people are going shopping or to work.

Scent work or tracking can be a great way to mentally stimulate our dogs, build up their confidence and challenge them.

30 minutes of scent work and some heel work and Rada is ready for breakfast and a nap.

Try this with your dogs rather than being dragged around the block or down the road. 🐶🐾😃
