Great few days at Gatcombe Park for the Festival of British Eventing.

All 3 horses were in the British Novice Championship, Hank (Voights Anky Panky) Harry (Stornoway IV) and George (No Reason) all finished in the top 25 - they were 16th, 21st and 25th respectively.

George was first to go in all phases, he did a fantastic test that everyone was really pleased with, double clear in the jumping phases again proved how consistent he is as he continues to mature.

Harry was in the middle, errors in the areas we know need working on proved costly for what was a nice test overall, another good double clear bumped him up the order.

Hank put in a nice test, 1 unfortunate rail and a truly awesome XC - inside the time - at Gatcombe - amazing!

A fantastic setting, great weather with good going and all owners there supporting.

Everyone ready for a rest after tackling those hills each day but no rest, off to Skipton tomorrow!!

A huge thank you to the organisers and all the volunteers for such a well run and friendly event.

Long and eventful trip out to Aston-le-walls yesterday.

George (No Reason) and Hank (Voights Anky Panky) both in the intermediate and Query (Royale Hero) in the Novice.

George put in another solid run for 8th with a confident double clear. Hank had a good SJ round, an unlucky pole unbalanced them for another which was unfortunate in what was a nice round, he then had a great XC round, quick and controlled so really pleased with both boys.

Querly was more than ready for his turn having had to wait for the others! He did one of his nicest tests we’ve seen, 1 pole down and a great clear XC to finish 7th - so nice to see this horse getting stronger and maturing in the phases.

A blow out on the way home made for an exceptionally long day for Josh, but all home and safe by 1am!!

Unlike at home we had sunshine all day, the wind kept us all cool but some very red and sunburnt faces this morning!!

Thanks to the organisers and all the volunteers that make this a great event - also a big thanks for the wash boxes, they were fabulous!

On home ground this weekend at the amazing Somerford Park Farm. You would never believe that We were fearful a few days before ballot day that too few entries could stop the event - it was busy each day with an amazing International feel across all classes.

We had 4 horses entered, Hank (Voights Anky Panky) put in an enthusiastic effort throughout in the Intermediate - this run was all about being sure Hank was feeling his usual brilliant self and he left Josh in no doubt that he was!

Young Querly (Royale Hero) continued his run in Novices which is going great. Querly is a big horse and like many big horses finds a 20x40 a bit on the small side! Still manages to put in a good test as he gains in confidence. Probably the biggest SJ track he has jumped and he did a lovely clear then a great XC clear to finish just outside the top 10. Lovely to see his confidence growing each time he is out.

Harry (Stornoway IV) and No Reason (George) were both in the CCI-S*** Harry’s first run at this level and George’s 2nd. They both did dressage on Friday so seemed a very long wait to get jumping today!! SJ was massive, owners nerves were off the chart, Josh cool and calm as ever! What an effort from both horses, both double clear finishing in the top half. Josh reports they both gave him a great, confident round and loved every minute. Both horses were full of running at the end and cooled down well - testament to the whole team of the care and preparation of all the horses.

Thank you to all at Somerford for putting on such a great event - being on site we’ve seen the months of preparation that goes into it - it’s very much appreciated!

Productive trip up to Warwick Hall today with Voights Anky Panky (Hank) in the ON and Royale Hero (Querly) in the Novice.

Hank, who was back out after a short break was on form giving Josh a great round for 6th.

Querly showed he’s really finding his stride at the level having stepped up recently finishing 5th.

Both horses finishing on their dressage score - a good day!!

Thanks as always to the organisers and all the volunteers

Some great riding today from Josh at the wonderful setting of Rockingham International. George (No Reason) and Harry (Stornoway IV) were in the Intermediate Masters and the Intermediate.
This was a great event for the 2 of them as they are relatively new to the level and it was a big atmosphere and a big and bold parkland track. Great to see them both take the course and atmosphere in their stride.
George had an unfortunate SJ pole which dropped them down, Harry double clear to finish 6th. Really pleased with both horses, next stop for George and Harry will be Catton.

Thanks as always to the organisers and all the volunteers- we had a great day!

Thanks for the photos Simone!

With 5 horses entered it was always going to be a long and busy day, a 2 hour delay on route with lorry problems didn’t help!!

We had Royale Hero (Querly) in the Novice, Voights Anky Panky (Hank), No Reason (George), Quick Quack and Stornoway IV (Harry) all in the Intermediate, Harry competing in just his 2nd one and Quack making her first step up to the level.

The Intermediates were first to go in what was a rather quick turnaround due to the travel delay - everyone posted good scores despite the rush.
Each dropped an unfortunate rail SJ over a decent track.
George put in his usual solid XC round, Hank had an out of character day so Josh took the wise decision to pull him up and save him for another day. The pocket rocket that is Harry stormed round and got inside the time and managed to finish 5th - all thrilled with this. And Quack - at her first Intermediate made it feel easy for Josh finishing 6th - a thrilling result for first time at the level.

Not forgetting young Querly who had waited so patiently for his turn. He put in a spirited test, 1 pole and a really good clear XC - just his second Novice for a top 10 finish - excellent.

A late finish, all horses home safely and tucked up for the night ready for a couple of rest days. Unfortunately can’t say the same for Josh who was straight back working first thing this morning!!

As always huge thanks to the organising team and all the volunteers that make this event fabulous.

Lack of pictures this week so here’s Harry showing his love of XC!!

The end of a long but very rewarding weekend at the wonderful Kelsall Hill.

Day 1

Dressage day for both Hank (Voights Anky Panky) and George (No Reason) for the 3*S. Both new to this level and both posted good scores - always more to work on but good effort for first time.

Day 2

SJ and XC day for Hank and George and dressage day for Quack (Quick Quack) who was in her first international class the 2*S.
Both Hank and George did great SJ rounds, both clear. XC Hank, still young to the level had a green moment for an unfortunate 20, George tanked round for clear. Great learning experience for both horses.
Quack showed her consistency of awesome dressage tests and produced another putting them in the running going into Sunday.

Day 3

Quack excelled herself with a double clear to finish 5th - a brilliant result.

Harry (Stornoway IV) was in his last Novice and posted a great double clear to finish on his dressage score for 2nd place.

Querly (Royale Hero) ran in the 100, he put in an exceptionally lively warm up performance for us all but Josh did a great job of containing his enthusiasm during the test!! He then went on to produce a nice clear SJ and a really solid XC round to also finish on his dressage score for 3rd.

Dec, Lydia and Ella did a superb job of keeping everything running smoothly at home.

So in summary - awesome weekend at a fantastic venue. Huge thanks to Phil, Jane and the wonderful Emma and all the volunteers that continue to make this event a highlight of the season.

Good trip out today to Eland Lodge for Josh with Querly (Royale Hero) having his first run of the season in the 100 and Harry (Stornoway IV) in the Novice.

Querly did a fine job on his first run, good dressage, an unfortunate pole then solid XC. He’ll now have one more 100 run before stepping up to Novice.

Harry was his usual bouncy self and pleased to be out again! Great dressage then double clear inside the time allowed them to finish on their dressage of 25.5 to win the section.

Exceptionally pleased with all the boys!!

Now getting ready for a busy weekend at kelsall!!

Thanks as always to Eland Lodge for a great event.

Good weekend for us at one of our favourite local events Weston Park.
Hank (Voights Anky Panky) and George (No Reason) were having their first Intermediate run for this season on Saturday, good tests from both and double clears saw them finish a very respectable 5th for Hank and 10th for George - great riding Josh.
Saturday saw the first event of the season for Quack (Quick Quack) and Harry (Stornoway IV). Both posted good tests and show jumped clear, Quack then posted a great XC clear and finished 8th. Harry picking up an unfortunate 20 dropped him down but still finished top 15.

Super pleased with all horses. Weston, as always delivered a fantastic event, huge thanks to Janet and all her team and volunteers.
