Peugeot 3.5 ton horse box. Recent 2024 conversion on a 69 plate. Only used a handful of times but after coming from an 18ton lorry I’ve realised I’ve gone to small.

A mixed bag of results yesterday at Kelsall in the dressage!
Had a win in Ollie with 71% in our first test but then no placing in our second with 65%.
Paddy decided the excitement was all too much for him and so threw in a couple of green moments just to keep@me on my toes!. Whoever said horses were a great leveller was absolutely right! 🤣

✨ Long Overdue Update ✨
Apologies for the radio silence on here lately, to say I’ve been busy is an understatement! Some great updates for you though…
🧑🎓 As of today I’m thrilled to confirm I am a fully qualified UKCC Level 3 eventing coach! It’s been a tough slog and has taken a whole lot of hard work but I made it! Huge thanks in particular to Zoë Hanks for helping make it happen and keeping me sane, Mary Thelwell for being my ‘phone a friend’ (also qualifying - well done Mary!) and my family for putting up with me. I promise you all it’s my last one (for a while at least!)
🥈Our first event of the season last weekend at Eland (and in fact what feels like forever thanks to my Op and wedding last year) for me and my main man Paddy and we came second! Super chuffed with him and was great to be back out on him!
🏵️ Did the High Profile at the recent Somerford Park Farm Premier League Dressage and was mega chuffed with a top 10 finish. Was such a great experience especially with being on ‘home turf’.
Massive thanks to all my liveries and coaching clients for allowing me to do what I love every day, and to my staff who hold the fort for me whilst I’m doing it! Im a lucky girl!

Well that's a wrap for TWRC Somerford Camp 2024!

🏡 Meet our longest resident! 🏡
Merlin and his owner Natalie have been with us for about 14 years now, moving in on the 31st December 2009!
Merlin came to us as a ‘spirited’ youngster. He was full of beans and used to love entering the dressage arena on his back legs - he was so naughty! You’d also not take him on the farm ride on your own unless you had a death wish! 😂
These days, he leads a much more sedentary life. He still enjoys hacking round the farm ride and likes to keep his rider on their toes by throwing in the odd spook, just to check that they’re paying attention!
He’s an absolute gentleman and we love having him on the yard. 😍

We are looking for an enthusiastic, up-beat team player to join us on our busy livery/ competition yard at Somerford Park Farm, CW12 4SW.
The job will involve working alongside a team of 8 members of staff and your duties will relate to the care of 40 horses.
Your duties will include all general yard duties such as mucking out, turnout, and grooming.
Riding will be available for the right candidate.
The full time position You will be required to work 5 days a week to include a weekend day.
We pride ourselves on the level of service we provide and the standard of care that we offer and it follows that we are a fast paced yard.
A good sense of humour is of course always welcomed.

Somerford Park International Horse Trials 2023
It is with great consideration and regret that we are cancelling Somerford International Horse Trials 2023.
We have come to this decision for the following reasons, firstly and most concerning is the Insurance situation, Somerford is not prepared to run without abandonment insurance including the adverse weather policy.
Having built up a trust with our client base over several years we are not prepared to jeopardise this and leave our clients out of pocket in a challenging economic climate.
We self-insured last year and due to the high volume of cancellations this year the cost for us to insure has escalated by over 100% and is proposed to increase by a further 26% next year.
Events are now expected to absorb more costs passed on from the governing bodies as well as the escalation in costs to stage an event.
We have always worked at generating sponsorship and have long standing mutually beneficial partnerships which were created to take the event forward, however this sponsorship money has now become the lifeline for the event to run.
Somerford has always produced the event as a showcase to reflect our business and has not had the expectation of running with financial surplus. We are now looking at the risk of a large financial loss at a level we are not prepared to absorb.
We would like to thank all of those who have supported Somerford Horse Trials, whether that be as a sponsor, rider, volunteer, trade stand or spectator over the years.
We hope this is not the end to eventing at Somerford and that some changes within the governing body can be made to protect and improve the sport we all love.

Great day at the office for Team CT today on home turf at the Cheshire Shield 🌟 Sam and Paddy both had great dressage tests and clear SJ. Sam had a storming XC finishing on 27.8 and coming home with a win! Paddy was coming in joint first, until he decided to take the scenic route round a skinny! Still came home with a 6th though and given the warm weather today really pleased with them both. Olivia also did brilliantly today on her three rides. Coming 3rd on Lola in their first Novice together, whilst Boy and Jack both did really well with Jack going double clear and Boy having an amazing dressage score and a clear XC run. Finally, our apprentice Jewel had a great first event on her horse Rocky going double clear. ✨Looking for a new 🏡 ✨ 8 year old, 16.2hh, gelding Jack has strong breeding lines and has been slowly produced - showing real potential with his jumping. Having competed up to 1.30, he’s a forward going horse so not a novice ride, but not a bad bone in his body. He just loves his job! We’ve put him in lots of situations and he’s proved great with his flatwork, cross country schooling (including jumps, ditches, steps, water), and to hack, shoe, clip etc. Really great all rounder, fit and ready to go for the season. 🐎 Kelsall Day 1 🐎 What a weekend! Started out on Friday riding two horses at Kelsall for their owner Lucy - one in the BE80 and one in the BE90. Super pleased with how they both went - both going double clear to come home with a 7th and a 13th. 🎥 FILMING YOUR RIDING 🎥 Many people are under the illusion that filming your riding is all about vanity, but that’s really not the case. I recommend using it for three main reasons: 1. It’s a great way of being able to see from the floor what you can’t see in the saddle. For example hand placement, where your lower leg is, your horses balance and movement etc. Sometimes you can have a bit of an ‘ah-hah’ moment when you can finally see what your trainer sees! 2. It’s also a really good way of seeing how far you have come in your training when you can look back at videos taken a few weeks/months ago and see the differences. Riders tend to be really good at beating ourselves up about all the things we feel we aren’t doing - but usually when we see it in black and white (or full colour) we have come further than we give ourselves credit for. 3. Use it for your ‘confidence bank’. A few of my coaching clients have struggled with their confidence which has taken a bit of a battering, so we sometimes film some of their lesson so that next time they have a crisis of confidence, they can look back at when they got it right and it can help top those confidence levels up. Carla (in the video) has a very new partnership with her horse Freddie. He’s bigger and more powerful than Carla’s previous horses and so it’s a different style of riding she is having to get used to. In just a few short weeks, Carla has gone from being tense and ‘bracing’ against Freddie’s strength and power, to now being far more supple and in a more consistent contact. The videos from today, even though they were only a minute or two in length, have shown Carla just how much progress she is making. So next time you hop on board, set the camera up. What do they say? No rest for the wicked! 😈 Hot footed it back from the XC course at Somerford for an afternoon of lessons with my lovely coaching clients. Kelly feels like she isn’t making as much headway as she would like with her youngster Winston, particularly when it comes to jumping, so we worked on rhythm, balance and straightness to really get that uphill feeling on their approach jumps. By using ground poles, it really helped to focus both Kelly and Winston, specifically giving them a better more balanced rhythm. I ran two horses today in the Intermediate at Somerford Park Farm so first up is this guy….my black beauty. Paddy (Al Pacino Q) gave me an incredible test to finish on 25.9, an unlucky pole in the SJ and then a fantastic XC on a really technical track, just picking up a few time pens. We finished 9th in a super competitive field which I’m really pleased with.
