Harriet left a sample this morning.

She has capillaria aero and lungworm and on treatment for both.

The green circle is capillaria and the red circle is showing the lungworm.

Update on Harriet -

She woke up and chose violence today 😂. She evidently got out of the wrong side of bed this morning. She was very feisty and didn’t hesitate to let her feelings known about 4 different injections.
She huffed and she puffed and almost blew the house down in her temper tantrum 😂

A simple five minute job became a 15 minute fight because she was NOT happy at being stabbed by the human. Feisty is exactly what I expect to see from a wild hog to be when being manhandled.

She still hasn’t given a sample to analyse yet but she hadn’t eaten for days. Hopefully, she’ll leave a ‘present’ at some point today.

This little lady is not going down without a fight. Bravo Harriet 👏🏽

My rescue is still closed but I had a frantic message from my son via his Xbox. Little ‘Harriet’ was found wandering down a road on the Shotley bridge hospital site this afternoon by my sons best friends Mum while she was at work today.

A quick examination showed she was very emaciated and very dehydrated and possible pneumonia. Some IV fluids and antibiotics quickly bounced her back into action.

She was popped into an incubator and immediately started tucking into the meaty cat food and other goodies on offer.

I’m hoping she’ll leave a sample overnight so we can swiftly start her on the correct meds to aid her recovery.

This little ladies rescue has undoubtedly saved her life today because she was on the brink of no return.

DO NOT FEED HEDGEHOGS PUMPKIN! 🎃❌

At this time of year, we all end up with lots of spare pumpkin not knowing what to do with. Whilst hedgehogs will happily eat pumpkin, it acts as a natural laxative, which can be harmful. It is vital that hedgehogs put on as much weight as possible to give them the best chance of surviving the winter, so instead of feeding them pumpkin, leave out some Spike’s Food and plenty of fresh water.

Bonfire season is fast approaching so be careful for our spiky friends hiding in and around them.
