Future dog trainer - the 3 of them are such chaos together πΎ
I've been working with Dekka for 6+months. Dekka was terrified of going near the car let alone get in it. This was due to as a puppy he was only going in the car for what he deemed as negative experiences, like going the vets.
We started with Dekka trying to lure him near the car with high value treats, that didn't work. We tried desensitisation work, getting him closer and closer over time with feeding, toys and treats but as soon as we stopped near the car he'd back off.
After lots of thinking about what to do and talking with some other trainer friends, I started to look increasing his 'drive' to get to something with the idea that rather than us taking him to the car he'd lead the way.
He was already very ball focused so in the back garden away from the car we started by placing a stationery ball down, holding him back then counting him down to get the ball. Once he returned with the ball he'd get something he found more rewarding than a ball, in his case its a squeaky toy.
Once he showed excitement for this it was time for his owner to practise this in various locations.
We then moved to the front garden, getting gradually closer to the car.
Months later and we managed to get the ball inside the car!
This has only been possible with the hard work and consistency from his owner.
There is still a long way to go but slow and steady.

Been working with my friend with her collie pup Aura on some loose lead walking. Both did very well for the first session. Lot of homework! πΎ

Loki is 5 months old and his owner Alexa has done such amazing work with him. He is currently on our puppy course but I can't take any credit for the amazing training she's done with him πΎ
This was today at the play field working on focus, control, relationship and confidence building exercises.
Practising Ivy's ball drive for flyball. This one if for you Jo.
We have 3 new puppies at Flyball. Here is Loki (10wks) and Ivy (13wks) at their first session.
These pups will not start full runs until at least 12 months old but the foundations can start now. Here is a short video of there recall work.
Pictures of puppy Mia I'm sure will follow. πΎ
Another kid/dog video... I make no apologies they're too cute!
In this video I just want to highlight that dogs react as much to body language and hand signals as commands. Callie understands the hand movements that neva made rather than what she was saying.
At the moment I am training Neva to train Callie. I'm so proud of her. Little dog trainer in the making β€οΈ
Getting the kids to work/play with dogs in a positive way strengthens the bond between them and also teaches kids the appropriate way to interact with dogs.
Excuse the state of the living room. #kids π

Took this video the other day at the beautiful Bodnant Garden NT.
Here I am doing a bit of obedience training with Callie.
Lots of what I'm doing her helps build her focus on me and ever enhances our relationship π
Notice the loose lead, her attention on me and even when the other dog barks she pays no interest.
For my clients - look at how little I am saying to callie. I'm not shouting her name, not even using commands. She knows by my body language and hand signals exactly what I want. This comes with time, practise, consistency and that most important bond.

Since my Lola's operation she has gone almost completely deaf (think it could be a side effect of the antibiotics so finger crossed it might come back) so we have been working on a whistle recall this morning.
As you can see it's going well!

We made some good progress with millie today.
Millie is scared getting into the car and as she getting heavier her owners are struggling to lift her in.
Today we used the luring technique with positive re-enforcement to get her into the boot. During this session we didn't push it any further than this. Small and steady steps are the way forward with a nervous dog.
Note : I have been working with millie on basic obedience for about 4 months so she is used to training with me.
Some doggie and toddler bonding tonight π
These 2 melt my heart.

Engage with your dogs on their walk πΎ
A little video on getting your dog to engage with you on a walk.
Love this π

Shes too cute!
