What a difference a day makes..
A day out with the horses, is definitely good for my soul. I had some huge responses today that put a big smile on my face, and I can confidently say it might be one of the few jobs that you can get farted on over 15 times in a day and finish with a smile 😃

A little vulnerability from me tonight.
This week, I have felt "off", a bit lost (if I can start to try and label it). It's nearly Omeyas death anniversary and maybe subconsciously that is starting to build up? But I have felt on the verge of tears for most of the week and have been letting it get in the way of parts of my life.. well tonight (watching the movie "if") it broke me. Normally I would of had Omeya to release these feelings on, as I called him my personal therapist, but sadly I now try and keep them to myself (My own personal choice).
I don't think we realise how important our horses are to our mental health until they are gone, so give them an extra special hug and a kiss this weekend. Poor Omeya would have to listen to my problems on a regular basis and i would always come home feeling better. I would love to hear some special moments that have been shared between you and your horse(s). I would have let it all out on Flash but he doesn't care!

Today was a busy day full of explainations, investigstions and problem solving.
There seemed to be a common theme amongst a few of todays patients and that was sore attachment points for the (collective term) hamstring muscles.
These muscles are located down the back of the hind limb. They are responsible for a range of movements such as kicking, rearing and forward movements. Injuries here are common and can require prompt veterinary intervention and massage therapy to maximise healing time and quality.
The quadriceps and tensor fascia lata contribute to hip, stifle and hock flexion and help to swing the leg further underneath the body. The iliopsoas helps to create hip flexion and is also involved in bringing the leg under.
So what can you do to help??
Hill work is an excellent way to strengthen, the hamstrings, gluteal and back muscles. Walk and trot are good paces but also try engagement exercises uphill such as half steps and rein back also Walking over a raised poles is a good strengthening and mobilising exercise as it encourages hip, stifle and hock flexion. .You could also try putting a raised pole on the way to the field or school so it does not take up any extra time and it becomes part of your daily routine.
