A selection of excellent photos taken by Grae during the weekend feed rounds. Freezing weather, snow, wind or rain never stops either myself Grae & sometimes Rik making sure the colony cats get their daily feed. The cats tnr'd by us are every bit as important as our foster cats & our own cats. Full tummies = healthy happy cats. This is where your food donations really help, thank you.

To end the day it's sweetheart 2Tone. He gave me a shower of head-boops in return for some Dreamies. We were both happy with the deal!
Overnight temperatures are forecast to be at least -1 so please, if you feed a stray or feral make sure they have somewhere as safe, dry & as warm as possible to sleep in.

Brrrrr! It was a freezing 3 degrees as I fed the colonies early afternoon. Fresh food, biscuits to nibble on & warm water in their water bowls made the kitties happy.

Tonights Goodnight Kitten is teeny tiny Jovie who has decided she's a parrot & needs to perch on Clare's shoulder!
It's feeling very wintry outside so please, if you feed a stray or feral provide somewhere safe & as warm as possible for it to sleep in. Remember, straw is warm, unless in an actual shed blankets will freeze outside

Tonights Goodnight kitten is tiny sweetheart Jovie who came into Fagin's care just before Christmas as an unwanted present. Grae took Jovie for a vet check today to Broad Lane Vets as she was doing yucky poos. She is on a combination of Panacur, Kittystim & Royal Canin Sensitivity wet food . We knew she was tiny & probably too young to be away from Mum cat when she was sold & this was confirmed by the vet who put her age at just 6 weeks old! This means she was just over 4 weeks when she was separated from her Mum cat. Clare & Grae have worked hard teaching her to eat & drink. At 4 weeks old kittens are still hugely reliant on their Mum . Jovie screamed when left alone at first suffering from separation anxiety so we had to put a beating heart heat plushie in with her. It's never a good idea, however well intentioned to give such a young kitten as a gift. Back yard breeders will happily let their cats breed unchecked causing misery & suffering. Whilst you may think you're saving a kitten ( which in essence for that kitten you are) you're also part of the problem. Backyard breeders don't love their pets, they're prostituting them for money, that's the hard truth. Break the cycle & adopt sensibly.
If you're celebrating New Years Eve have a lovely fun & safe time. Remember there will be fireworks later so ensure your own cats are safe & leave a radio on for them if you're going out. If you're kind enough to feed a stray or feral provide them with somewhere safe away from the noise & windy weather.

The last feed rounds of 2024 though in truth I'm sure to the cats (& me for that matter) it's just a Tuesday followed by a Wednesday!
I fed Shouty & Bobbi at the allotment site & I had lovely fusses with them both. Grae is feeding Bernards site & the industrial site gang to give me a break. Thanks mate.

To end the day it's Mr Handsome Pants himself, Bojangles. Is it me or does he get more handsome? In from an outside life for two years now & the rough looking cat with fight wounds & matted fur is hopefully a distant memory for Mr Bojangles. Loved, safe & contented.
If you feed a stray or feral what about getting them neutered & giving them a home. Two lives will be enriched.

A chilly & breezy feed rounds but pleasant as it was bright with a bit of sun. There was a good turnout at each site & the cats had a tin of sardines ( thanks Stewart & Sarah) & some tasty Sheba sachets too ( thanks Matt). Gale force winds are forecast for New Years Eve & New Years Day so the feed rounds will be a challenge!
Full tummies.
