Puppy grooming 🐶
Puppy grooming is absolutely essential to help your new family member used to all the new sights and smells of puppy life. Before a full groom can be performed, allowing your puppy to spend time with their new groomer is very important. Time spent with the clippers on around them will show them the sound is nothing to be afraid of and allow them to have that all important sniff of scissors, nail clippers, brushes.

Puppy grooms can be done after they’ve had their second lot of injections. Would normally include a bath with lavender puppy shampoo, a blow dry and very minimal sc******ng usually around the eyes and buttocks. Nails can be trimmed if required too. We use Natures Groom lavender puppy shampoo, this is vegan friendly and completely natural. Lavender has long been used for its natural calming effects making it perfect for puppy’s first grooming experience.

I have found this puppy introduction absolutely crucial in aiding puppies to grow into dogs that actually enjoy being groomed and sometimes they even fall asleep whilst I do. On the other hand I have had dogs that come for their first groom at 12 months plus (teenage years) and they find the whole experience traumatic, they can become aggressive making it next to impossible to be groomed by a groomer and unfortunately would need to be put under anaesthetic by a vet to be groomed.

If there was only one piece of advice I could give dog owners, it would be to get your puppies in for a puppy groom ASAP. You will be doing your dog, your groomer and yourself the biggest favour. First full groom is recommended at 6 months.

Getting ready to brush a dogs teeth yesterday when I spotted an embedded grass seed, these things are everywhere atm. Don’t forget to check your dogs gums and paw pads. Regular teeth cleaning can also help with this 🦷🐶

🦷You may of noticed I’m asking everyone about teeth cleaning lately. Here’s a better explanation of what it involves and why it’s important. 🐕

We use an ultrasonic toothbrush to break down plaque and tartar without noise or vibration. The toothbrush and the toothpaste together create millions of nano bubbles and an antibacterial effect on the teeth and gums. 🐶

The photo below was after 2 sessions but you can see great results from the first go. 🦷

🐕Our dogs teeth are obviously important but are often forgotten about since they’re often out of sight and out of mind. What most people don’t know is bad oral hygiene can not only cause gum disease but other issues like heart disease too. Since some really nasty bacteria is left to grow inside their mouths and then swallowed and passed around the body.

You can add teeth cleaning at a small extra charge before plaque is present for only £15 on top of your groom, this includes puppies too, it gets them used to having their teeth brushed at a young age and as we all know prevention is better then cure. 🐶

Full teeth cleaning sessions to remove plaque are £45, currently we offering this for £30 on top of any groom. 🦷

I’m always being asked if this is worth it and I can say wholeheartedly say it 100% is. Photos below are of a dog I’ve done myself recently. 🤩
