Maystar Devon Rex Nicole SJ Rankin GCCF & TICA registered Devon Rex Breeder under the prefix MAYSTAREX *GB

We have been owned by Devon Rex since 1991 and have enjoyed their wonderful companionship ever since. They are a wonderfully funny, quirky, active and fun loving breed with beautiful curly coats. All the girls we have here have been born at Maystar and most are Champion or Grand Champion winners. Queen Vee runs an amusing blog every Sunday and took over from King Slinky in 2016.The blog has run fr

om 2012 and gives any reader a good insight into the ups and downs of breeding first hand. Each day we share something of the Pride to the great wider world to entertain and make people smile.

SaBreena has delivered a litter of 4 babies, a lovely cream boy, a white girl, and a boy and a girl in black (poss tortie). All weighing 95g and over. No wonder she looked HUGE!!

As always, with SaBreena, no dramas, no stress, just purring away and washing them all up on her own. All I do is rotate and warm them, give them kittystim and return them to her.

The wet bedding is gone, she is wiped down with colloidal silver and babies are latching on. At first, she smelled bad and had peed herself a little and babies don't find the milk bar if mum is smelly. Washed all those nips and voilà....

It's all go in the kitten room tonight. I cleaned and steamed the carpets at early doors so that these three could have their first real gallop about. SaBreena is about ready to drop. You can always tell, she is being super sweet to the babies. Might be in for a long night?!

Garden O'clock. Every day we let the boys out at this time, grab a hot cup of coffee and try to keep warm whilst they chase squirrels and hunt earthworms then get soily feet all over me when they come for kisses.

Not the most conventional way to feed babies, however, they were refusing the milky rice point blank, so I opted for a tray of Annimonda kitten patè and I believe they were very ready to use those tiny gnashers of theirs.

I do have to say that the Tortie took 15ml of milk before scoffing the meat. They did about 40g between three. Not bad for their first meat feast!

Vet Sally and the lovely Heidi saw the Gazoolings tonight at Broad Lane Vets BC branch. They have all gained weight, are much brighter and more active and can mix with Gazoo and Eros again.

We have come home with a further 3wks treatment and supportive antiemetics again to get them over this hump and their vaccines are sheduled for the 17th February if all goes well.

It feels like a long way off, but I know it's the right thing to do, erradicate this bacterium for good so it can't come back or be passed on to other members of their new families.

Do hurry up love... I have the vets at 3.50pm with the Gazoolings.

Our Story

Maystar Devon Rex is a British cattery based in Coventry, West Midlands. We have ten cats living with us in our home. Faith, Lillibet, Flaire, Viktori, Pearl, Tyga, Robyn, SaBreena, Ikon and his son Magnus Rex. We pride ourselves on healthy, happy cats and kittens and are part of the GCCF Accredited Breeders Scheme as well as TICA registered.
