The role involves aiding in the day-to-day maintenance of the store including caring for the wide variety of livestock that we carry and serving customers. High standards of customer service are important to our business and applicants should be enthusiastic and professional.

The person we are looking for should be a positive practical individual who is keen to be part of a strong happy team of staff who enjoy working in their vocational career.

As a Full-time sales assistant, the job will require the following;

· Deliver excellent standards of livestock care and store presentation.

· Greet all our customers in an articulate, approachable and friendly manner to maintain our high standards of customer care.

· Communicate your fishkeeping knowledge clearly to customers with varying levels of experience and maintain our policy of responsible fishkeeping.

· Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

· Complete sales correctly and efficiently ensuring customers leave the store fully satisfied.

· Getting merchandise out onto the shop floor, organizing stock neatly on the shelves and making sure it's correctly priced and available.

· Be self-motivated, positive and organised.

· Be reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic to learn.

As we approach the big day, we would like to wish all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a bubbly New Year in 2024! We are truly grateful for your continued support and loyalty throughout the year and have some exciting new projects to share with you in 2024.

In fact, 2024 is a landmark year for us, so keep an eye on our website and social media for news and announcements to make sure you don't miss out!

All Maidenhead Aquatics stores will be open over the festive period, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Please note that some may also be closed on New Year's Day, so we'd recommend calling the store you plan to visit before leaving home, as some may also be operating on reduced opening hours. Rest assured, however, that all of our fish and livestock will receive special Christmas feeds and water changes and that we'll ensure they're all well and happy over the holidays.

With today being Red Nose Day, it seemed the perfect time to showcase this sociable little fish with its distinctive red head markings.

Rummynose tetras are naturally found in forest creeks where leaflitter and detritus stain the water dark with tannins. In these soft, acidic blackwater habitats, they swim in large shoals and this sociable nature means that they should be kept in good numbers in the aquarium. Aquatic plants are rare in their natural environment, but dead leaves carpet the ground - most shade and shelter is provided by bankside growth or floating plants. Find out more:
