Catherine's Creature Comforts Catherine’s Creature Comforts. I will bring my animals to residential, disabled and dementia home I also have knowledge and experience with more exotic animals.

My name is Catherine Hoy and my passion is all things furry, scaly and feathery. I have a lifetime of experience working with animals ranging from every day pets to farm animals. My own furs and feathers include a Lurcher X called Jack and a blue merle collie x lurcher called Mabel. I've a herd of 3 guinea pigs, 3 chinchillas, 1 ducks, a flock of very spoilt hens, Mr Mushroom m, Tomlin, Jerry and

Max my beautiful tortoises. Catherine’s Creature Comforts offers outreach sessions to Residential Homes, Homes for the Disabled and Dementia Homes. I also attend schools, youth groups for educational talks and also meet and greet for parties, one to one therapy or family therapy. I aim to inform, educate and inspire pet owners and animal lovers alike about animal behavior, welfare and longevity of owning any pet from a stick insect to a dog! This is a voluntary service. Donations welcome.

Sunday mornings 🌄 ✨️
Squigeable cuddles, buckets of tea, and some Taz love ❤️ it doesn't get any better now, does it?
Jack was still in bed - he's up now and considering which bed or sofa he should grace next!

Taz 🦜 has settled in really well. He is starting to enjoy some scratches, he loves his biscuits dunked in tea. I need to make him his own healthy biscuits!

Deedee 🐢 is such a good girl, today is the last day of her medication. I'm happy to hear this, never mind Deedee. She is such a good girl. I'd like to say Mr Mushroom is looking after her.... let's just say spring is around the corner.... randy wee monster 👻 🐢

It's been a busy couple of weeks.

The good and the bad... wee Seamus passed away earlier this week. He was my wee black and white boy who took to living in the house. Now he was an old boy. He came to me years ago, already an adult! Nonetheless, my heart still broke 💔 😢.

Moving on... today is the day. Avery is getting wrapped. If any of my neighbours hear me scream, cry, hyperventilate, I suggest a crisp sandwich (no dairy) maybe alcohol (haven't had any of that in about 15yrs - that should help me wrap the avery) the videos, £250 in you've been framed! Is that still a thing?
My world is currently in my field - do you think they know?!?

Power of the mind. And some rest, lots of hot water and lemon 🍋 (getting more when I pick up veg) dark greens and bright reds.

It's just a cold, one of them colds where you actually feel cold! Mind you, I think this cold weather has got into all our bones!

I'm in the process of wrapping my avery - restrictions have been placed. Monday 17th - all feathers (apart from water birds) have to be placed in secure houses! Poor wee souls.

Enrichment... its all about Enrichment now. Keeping it all quirky and fun for them all.
Today, they are all exploring the field- like they know!

Deedee and I went on a wee road trip this week to a specialist tortoise vet.
As you all know Deedee has an existing respiratory condition.
Well, I noticed bubbles coming out of her nose on Sunday morning!
Taking no chances, I phoned the vet 1st thing on Monday morning. We were seen at 2.30 same day. Yeep*e

Deedee is such a good girl, so placid and content in her own soul.
The vet checked her over, listened to her lungs and heart, dipped her p*e (which represented a river)
Gave her lots and lots of cuddles...

She's on antibiotics (orally) for 7 days. So far she has taken them like a lady, with grace and dignity 🐢 like the queen she is.
She's in good form. Still eating and taking herself to her heat spot.
I think/hope I've caught this early!

Needless to say, I contacted Deedees mammy straight away. She was kept informed in real time!

Animals, as we know, don't show us how sick they are until it's normal too late! I hope, beyond all hope I have noticed and caught this......

Well done Deedee for showing me her symptoms!

I can't believe my life sometimes. It's just amazing and I LOVE it.

Taz has settled - he's heart and belly are full of love, I've had to say goodbye to 2 of my house plants 🪴

I'm already on my toes! Maybe I need ballet pumps to help me stay there!
I have missed the beautiful sounds that only parrots can make. Swalk Swalk MAMMY sing to me...

He is absolutely adorable, he did break out of his travel box on the way home yesterday, he sat on my shoulder the whole way home. He sang when he saw the lough! Wee pet.

This morning, he's had his breakfast, said hello to Laura, had a bath and fruit (only if I eat it 1st) and is currently sitting on my shoulder! Waiting on biscuits dunked in tea! I need shares in rich tea and digestives!

Never is there a dull moment! Never...
I hope my world never changes - it's Just perfect

My beautiful Yetti, isn't she stunning 😍
She has a beautiful personality as well, so gentle and extremely kind and quiet.
She's an all rounder kind of soul. Wee pet.
Her feathers are popping now in this beautiful winter sun.
Such a wee pet.

We are all just in from our morning stroll across to the lough shore. The ground is still frozen, all white and mystical, the lough is like glass this morning.
I could have stood there all morning....
Laura decided she had had enough and took herself home (again) ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhh

Real life slaps my face - again.
Let me have my magic world. I need my magical time..

As for our Laura, it's great she knows to come home. Extra long lead and recall training in the field for our Laura now. Yeep*e. She's such a sensitive wee soul. This is going to be interesting 👀 😳
I bet I'll cry 1st. Then everything will click into place and i will think I'm in control and then she will do it again! You just know how this works!
Nonetheless recall training will commence.
Shall I just tell everyone I'm turning 70 this year, at this rate I'm going to look older than me daddy 👨 😅

Audrey is LOVING her(is) cuddles atm. And I'm 100% here for it.
You know me folks - cuddles are life!

I sent this photo to my family/friends yesterday, my test subjects.
Their response was.
Friend 1 - terrifying - that's terrifying
Family 1 - is there something wrong with her eye? In a very high pitched voice!

Mammy, we are good geese, don't lock us out please. We need to touch you at ALL times. Mammy, MAmmy, MAMMy... HONK. HoNK.
Shushing 🤫 geese is like chocolate teapots! Impossible!

Sometimes, only Sometimes, closing them out is like pulling down an invisible cloak, peace. Of course they are right there, they can see me, honk at me.. I seem to have developed the ability to shut them off, close that gate and PEACE, for us all.
Only for 10 mins at the very most, that's obviously my 10 min meditation 🧘‍♂️ 😉 😊 peace.

They are all mature souls now and they are utilising them hormones! Yesterday, all 3 of them tried to intimate our Beth, such a racket. Until Beth picked Lucy up, then silence! Ahhhh Beth knows the tricks to the trade now, you see.
I still don't know who's male and female. It doesn't matter, there will be no more babies (goose eggs will be collected if any are layed) i appreciate that could lead to serious issues! Once that bridge is built, I'll worry about crossing it. It ain't built yet!

It's going to be a fun year, i can feel it in my bones..

Catherine's Creature Comforts is 10 years old this year. How? 10 years!
I hit a half a century this year! Again - what? Sure, I don't even look 35 🤔🙄🤣
I'm home 6 years - granted at the end of the year, but still...
I've still got some souls here that made that big road trip home! 🐶🐔🐢

Obviously I'm hitting the years mark for 2 souls I would give my..... im still not over Mabel and Niamh. Too much too close together ❤️ 😪 💔

3 years ago today!
I'm still struggling to wrap my head around that this happened to ME!
Triple bypass and they drained my lung 2 hours before I was allowed home.
Now, that experience- getting the fluid around my lung drained - was something else! Mr Hooks, his assistant and I laughed soooo much.. I talked about my old world and we all played the black cat game! Mr Hooks (surgeon) thought he had won but I hammered the final nail! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was still giggling when they were doing my final x-ray!
3 years. Wow. All the 'holys', all the 'no, it can't be'

Time is the best healer in the whole wide world and talking, just talk it out, scream it out, cry it out, dance it out....

That tube in my neck - i had no appreciation for that, at all!

All the staff, wow. Just wow. Their patience, care, respect, professionalism... wow!
My 1st walk the day after surgery was the most humbling thing ever. So many tubes and so many humans holding them tubes and encouraging me!

Of course all I could talk about was my world/animals/family/friends.... they all agreed I would be 100%, because I had a world to come home too, a world i was egar to get home too and get stuck straight back into it all.. purpose!

Team work makes the dream work - that's what they say isn't it?
Well, we all make a good team, that's for sure.

Balance - well Gertrude, Gladys and Geraldine certainly know this thing called balance - after all the clearing up, this is how I found them! Chilling in the sun in the goose house!
My raptors weren't too pleased about this but were too chicken, sorry, scared to do anything about it!

Plus, those who say 'don't be a chicken, just do it', emmm most chickens would have already done it, rewrote the program, had a snack, layed an egg and came back to watch you make an fool of yourself! Just saying!
My observations are, geese are more scared than chickens! In fact geese are all hiss and no hit! Chickens, they are smart souls!

Line up, line up folks. We've all got work to do today.
Apart from my roof ridges on my floor, everything else is all good. Yeep*e.
All my souls are happy and healthy, they have free will today.
Today is reset day for outside. Lots of p**p to be moved and cleaned, hosed and refreshed.
Food bins need filling (i need to win the lotto) treats need bought.
One more bucket of tea and a shower 🚿 before we will start this party. Yeep*e.

Don't worry. We are all good.
Well, apart from my roof!
I noticed a few bits of rubble after I sorted all my souls out at 8 o'clock. Just a few at that stage!
I found where they came from - my roof! Ahhhh... just a few at this stage.
Jack, as you can imagine isn't dealing with the storm too well, so he came out the back with me to check on everyone.
I was, thankfully at the outside tap by my kitchen window when the rest of the top bits off the roof came down! Ahhhhh... sooo lucky!
Needless to say it took me 10 mins to get Jack in after that crash and bang. Poor Jack. He's all good now. Poor boy.
Laura has her support teddy beside her, she doesn't seem that bothered by it all. Wee pet.
Everyone apart from the geese and ducks are in the avery for the day. They have lots of veg, food and water to keep them happy for today. Im not going to risk going out my back until this afternoon 🙃. Too risky!

Don't trust weeds in water!
Then, don't go and do the exact same thing that your sister does!

Yesterday morning we all went across the road to the lough, now I was on high alert because our Laura rolled in p**p the day before.
We all had a lovely walk, I took them over to the last inlet (which is covered in weeds) i heard a splash but thought Shiva had paddled into the water.
No, Laura was dragging her soaked body out of the lough!
Jack, the baboon that he is leapt into the air and dived into the lough (he seen Laura dragging herself out what was he thinking?) Anyway, what felt like 2 mins he popped his head up in a blind panic. He then dragged his linkey body out.
Laura, at this stage had already took herself home, across the road. My poor nerves.
Shiva, this whole time was looking at me, shaking her head! She's the water dog! 🤣🙄🤪

My poor heart.

Never mind. I had to go and give blood this morning (which i nearly forgot) the nurse done my blood pressure and it was perfect. Yeep*e.

A good balance of plodding along and stress.
It's all about balance. 🤣🥰✨️

My 3 Gs are settled, content, some might say, ruling the roost! Yeepee Here, this morning was a bit cold and wet and sideways horrible! Jack took himself back to bed 1st thing to catch some of the bedheat... he's literally just got up now! He knows his own mind! Laura and I spent the morning cuddling, which was needed. Sharing body heat and all that there.. I am sorry if I've shared this video before, I will get more photos today and tomorrow.... When your time is taken with a sick soul and that soul no longer needs you, the void can be vast! Turkeys are starting to do zoomies and it's the most magical thing you'll ever see.
