Catherine's Creature Comforts Catherine’s Creature Comforts. I will bring my animals to residential, disabled and dementia home I also have knowledge and experience with more exotic animals.

My name is Catherine Hoy and my passion is all things furry, scaly and feathery. I have a lifetime of experience working with animals ranging from every day pets to farm animals. My own furs and feathers include a Lurcher X called Jack and a blue merle collie x lurcher called Mabel. I've a herd of 3 guinea pigs, 3 chinchillas, 1 ducks, a flock of very spoilt hens, Mr Mushroom m, Tomlin, Jerry and

Max my beautiful tortoises. Catherine’s Creature Comforts offers outreach sessions to Residential Homes, Homes for the Disabled and Dementia Homes. I also attend schools, youth groups for educational talks and also meet and greet for parties, one to one therapy or family therapy. I aim to inform, educate and inspire pet owners and animal lovers alike about animal behavior, welfare and longevity of owning any pet from a stick insect to a dog! This is a voluntary service. Donations welcome.

I'm still struggling to wrap my head around that this happened to ME!
Triple bypass and they drained my lung 2 hours before I was allowed home.
Now, that experience- getting the fluid around my lung drained - was something else! Mr Hooks, his assistant and I laughed soooo much.. I talked about my old world and we all played the black cat game! Mr Hooks (surgeon) thought he had won but I hammered the final nail! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was still giggling when they were doing my final x-ray!
3 years. Wow. All the 'holys', all the 'no, it can't be'

Time is the best healer in the whole wide world and talking, just talk it out, scream it out, cry it out, dance it out....

That tube in my neck - i had no appreciation for that, at all!

All the staff, wow. Just wow. Their patience, care, respect, professionalism... wow!
My 1st walk the day after surgery was the most humbling thing ever. So many tubes and so many humans holding them tubes and encouraging me!

Of course all I could talk about was my world/animals/family/friends.... they all agreed I would be 100%, because I had a world to come home too, a world i was egar to get home too and get stuck straight back into it all.. purpose!

Well, we all make a good team, that's for sure.

Balance - well Gertrude, Gladys and Geraldine certainly know this thing called balance - after all the clearing up, this is how I found them! Chilling in the sun in the goose house!
My raptors weren't too pleased about this but were too chicken, sorry, scared to do anything about it!

Plus, those who say 'don't be a chicken, just do it', emmm most chickens would have already done it, rewrote the program, had a snack, layed an egg and came back to watch you make an fool of yourself! Just saying!
My observations are, geese are more scared than chickens! In fact geese are all hiss and no hit! Chickens, they are smart souls!

All my souls are happy and healthy, they have free will today.
Today is reset day for outside. Lots of p**p to be moved and cleaned, hosed and refreshed.
Food bins need filling (i need to win the lotto) treats need bought.
One more bucket of tea and a shower 🚿 before we will start this party. Yeepee.

Don't worry. We are all good.
Well, apart from my roof!
I noticed a few bits of rubble after I sorted all my souls out at 8 o'clock. Just a few at that stage!
I found where they came from - my roof! Ahhhh... just a few at this stage.
Jack, as you can imagine isn't dealing with the storm too well, so he came out the back with me to check on everyone.
I was, thankfully at the outside tap by my kitchen window when the rest of the top bits off the roof came down! Ahhhhh... sooo lucky!
Needless to say it took me 10 mins to get Jack in after that crash and bang. Poor Jack. He's all good now. Poor boy.
Laura has her support teddy beside her, she doesn't seem that bothered by it all. Wee pet.
Everyone apart from the geese and ducks are in the avery for the day. They have lots of veg, food and water to keep them happy for today. Im not going to risk going out my back until this afternoon 🙃. Too risky!
We are all safe. Thank you all for your messages. You've no idea how much I appreciate you all. Thank you.

Don't trust weeds in water!
Then, don't go and do the exact same thing that your sister does!

Yesterday morning we all went across the road to the lough, now I was on high alert because our Laura rolled in p**p the day before.
We all had a lovely walk, I took them over to the last inlet (which is covered in weeds) i heard a splash but thought Shiva had paddled into the water.
No, Laura was dragging her soaked body out of the lough!
Jack, the baboon that he is leapt into the air and dived into the lough (he seen Laura dragging herself out what was he thinking?) Anyway, what felt like 2 mins he popped his head up in a blind panic. He then dragged his linkey body out.
Laura, at this stage had already took herself home, across the road. My poor nerves.
Shiva, this whole time was looking at me, shaking her head! She's the water dog! 🤣🙄🤪

My poor heart.

Never mind. I had to go and give blood this morning (which i nearly forgot) the nurse done my blood pressure and it was perfect. Yeepee.

A good balance of plodding along and stress.
It's all about balance. 🤣🥰✨️

I need 8 x 3meter sheets.

My avery needs shelter from the wind and rain.
The sheets will be removed in the summer ☀️

Seamus you know what side your bread is buttered don't ya, young man! Well, I say, young man but your in your middle ages now.
Seamus came into my world around 4 years ago. He belonged to a friend of one of my neighbours - who had too many boys!
Of course I had room and still do have room.
Seamus has made himself a house hen now! He only goes out when I go out and he is literally under my feet!

Its not the same as when Niamh was here, our Seamus spends most of his time in the back living room (under the tortoises heat lamps) he is starting to appreciate neck cuddles which is amazing for me, of course. It's not about me, it's about him and his needs!
Once the weather gets warmer he will be outside more, I truly believe we all need to be out in the earth, all of us..

For now, Seamus is a house hen. He has won the chicken lottery, food on demand, tea and biscuits, heat lamps, dust for baths 🛁 perfect. Just perfect.

Now to give everyone outside the same.. just outside!
Do I make life hard for myself- maybe! Hahaha

I forgot to show you all her after her beautiful spa afternoon.
She absolutely loved every second of it.
Groomer Laura sent me some beautiful photos of dog Laura laying up like the queen she is.
She appreciated this spa day I think.
And... she's sooo soft and fluffy and happy and content. Yeepee.

My world is such a magical place ✨️ I appreciate it so very very much.

My kitchen got gatecrashed this morning. Chickens were up the stairs, turkeys were in the living room - dogs were in the field!
Absolutely perfect in every way.. madness but perfect madness....

How did your morning start?

So far today, (I've got the mini humans here today) we have all run up the field like turkeys and ran back down like geese, wee Noah brushed up and we all offered fresh veg for all my souls. Georgia sang to the turkeys! Wee pets.
We filled food bins and water containers.

Pancakes were the stodge of choice for lunch (apparently I make the best pancakes ever! - they know how to stroke my ego!)
I then made some soda farls infused with garlic - that's my tea sorted. Yeepee.

Is it bedtime yet? No - tortoises next! Ok..

The wee ones are growing up so fast... soon they will be telling me what needs doing..

Since the big freeze everyone has got used to tea over biscuits! It's an all time favourite nowadays!
This human needs shares in the broken biscuits company.

I think it's starting to get cold again... I needed extra layers on me this morning... burr cold 🥶.

Today is one of them days where my list is growing faster than I'm ticking them jobs off 😒 fighting a loosing battle I think! Ahhhh never mind. There's always tomorrow, and, the evenings are getting brighter so I'll have more light to crack on with stuffs. Yeepee.

Not wishing time away, I will appreciate the rest of this down time. I suppose it's all balance.. in the summer I don't see my living room, nor tv, nor sofa..

This one would be LOUD.
Let's start at the top.
Red is queuing up to lay an egg (she's waiting on the basket, this is where she likes to lay)
Bluey is keeping an eye on his girls, making sure they have everything they need.
Queenie has literally just layed her egg in the basket.
The floor has Aggie (black polish lady) sitting on my trip hazard- my rake.
Rose is having a dust bath, Blanche is thinking of joining her, Dorothy is scratching for worms and Dora is in the back doing the same.
Behind me I have 3 geese on one side of me and 3 turkeys on the other side!
Them 6 are so funny. Always 3 on either side of me.
I'm well protected that's for sure.
I found one of my neighbours at my front gate chatting away to the turkeys this morning. John, you all know him, he found Tom 🐢 in his back garden all them years ago...
It was a beautiful sight. John had such a big beautiful smile on his face, chatting away to Gertrude and she was chatting back to him.
Now, that's life, isn't it!

I don't think I can handle this, my feelings are soooo big right now.

Laura, you're going for a spa afternoon my girl, my treat, there's many a soul would give a pension for a spa afternoon, there's no need to be worried.
My Laura is going to see human Laura to get her hair done. She's got some knots behind her ears that I can't get out, poor Laura. My fault for not keeping that lovely soft ear fur detangled. Sorry honey. We will do better...

Now should I use an industrial vacuum or industrial leaf blower 1st to de-fur my home?

I seem to have hit a stop sign! Maybe the whole shingles thing took it out of me more than I thought!
State of mind maybe!
Either way... that looks like a satisfying job to do. Painting therapy.

I apologise to all my perfectionists out there, you know who you (Andrew) are.

My thanks to our Beth for all her help yesterday, team work makes the dream work and oh my but did we work yesterday. Yeepee. Floors are all clean, veg area - clean, all water containers - clean, food containers- clean. Yeepee.

Such a beautiful day yesterday - Beth and I took some time for us and the doggies before we started working. Balance.
Also, routines can become boring, monotonous, repetitive, even harmful if we don't keep our eyes and soul open.
Change is good, it's needed... keeping it all alive.

I'm happy to report, my world is happy, content, save, secure, full bellies to support all their beautiful souls. Long may it all last.

My 3 Gs are settled, content, some might say, ruling the roost! Yeepee Here, this morning was a bit cold and wet and sideways horrible! Jack took himself back to bed 1st thing to catch some of the bedheat... he's literally just got up now! He knows his own mind! Laura and I spent the morning cuddling, which was needed. Sharing body heat and all that there.. I am sorry if I've shared this video before, I will get more photos today and tomorrow.... When your time is taken with a sick soul and that soul no longer needs you, the void can be vast! Turkeys are starting to do zoomies and it's the most magical thing you'll ever see. Zazu you've got a very impressive cape on ya my boy. You're absolutely stunning and such a sweet character as well. Some might say, you've the whole package! Beautiful wee man you are my Zazu. He is literally the colours of autumn 🍂 🐓 I had some friends over yesterday evening and we went to see all the feathers in their shed. Such joy.. oh my goodness. Observations - my brahmas (biggest chickens), Beebee and Phoenix snuggle up beside my sermas (smallest chickens) Ida and Snow-white. So cute and comical... Sloth update, I'll get a wee photo/video today. Her eye is almost healed thank goodness. It's taken its time but I think... fingers crossed. Her and Seamus are happy souls in my back living room. I imagine they will be there till spring now. Unless it gets warmer.. but let's face it. They ain't going anywhere until it gets warmer. Sloth is improving and that's all that matters. Phoenix has become best friends with Geraldine 💛✨️🌸💛. I lost most of the morning watching Phoenix follow all 3 ladies 🦃🦃🦃 around. Like she's showing them the ropes. We are all free today, doors are open, the wind has cleared out the cobwebs and washed away the old... Let's embrace this fresh start that has been gifted to us all - they all want another duvet day! I can see the mountains across the Lough this morning, today is going to be a beautiful day. Gladys, Gertrude and Geraldine have settled in so well, they sing to me all the time, have started coming up to me, seeking me out. Yeepee. It doesn't take long, when they know that they are safe.
