🐾 Charity Support 🐾

As Golden Paws is going better than we ever could have imagined we want to show our support to a charity.
There are so many fabulous animal charities, many we’ve heard of and many we haven’t, that are all so important.
We will be supporting Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter and the reason for this is that’s where we rehomed Hugo from in January 2016.

Hugo Golding’s Story

Hugo and his brother were found as young puppies abandoned in a cardboard box in a car park and were taken to Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter. Once they were strong enough they were available for rehoming. They were initially rehomed together however, Hugo was sadly returned.
He was a year old by the time I visited the shelter having been rehomed numerous times but it never working out for him.
As soon as we knew he’d spent the majority of the first year of his life in the shelter there was no doubt in our minds he would come to join our family forever.
He had missed out on all the important puppy learning and socialisation period so…….. was it going to be hard? Most probably…….would it be worth it? Absolutely
It took a couple of weeks for him to settle in properly and after only a couple of months it was just like he’d always been here fitting seamlessly into our busy lifestyle.
We did do a lot of training in the beginning and it has paid dividends. Hugo has done agility, flyball, achieved his Kennel Club Good Citizen Award and we’ve done charity runs and obstacle courses together. We’ve had holidays in tents, caravans, stayed in numerous travel lodges. We can take him absolutely anywhere and nothing phases him.
A dogs resilience is remarkable. Everyday Hugo gets up without a care in the world, never a thought about his unfortunate start in life.

We plan to support Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter in various ways, to begin with we will be donating a percentage of all money taken over a single weekend once every month.
We will be adding a box to the car park for any items anyone wishes to donate.

My friend brought me and my dogs here yesterday as I can't drive at the moment after an operation, what a lovely place, dogs enjoyed running round the trees and in the long grass, it is well looked after, will definitely be coming back when I can drive

People are welcome to pick blackberries but please do not climb the fence to get the ones out of reach. we have come to do a field check this morning to find the fence like this. The fence needs to be looked after for everyone’s dogs safety 🐶🐾
