🤎 M A R G O T 🤎

Gorgeous Margot is a 3 month old miniature dachshund here for 1-2-1 lessons, she’s so teeny I honestly could have cried 🥹

We’ve been working on creating a very clear and strong marker word in order to create a solid training system, it’s so important to ensure the communication between you and your pup is clear from the get go, otherwise it can lead to a lot of confusion later on. 🧠

We’ve also spoken about how important it is to have a very clear structure using the crate to ensure Margot gets the correct amount of rest to stop any over stimulation or unwanted behaviours due to being over tired. 💤

Margot is very food motivated which will make training her that much easier to reward! Today we started on the foundations of recall. I can’t wait to see this little lady progress 🥰

🗓️ NATIONAL CANINE LYMPHOMA AWARENESS DAY

The 7th of November is also known as National Canine Lymphoma Awareness day. A cause that is very close to my heart. I can honestly say I wish there was more awareness of this disease and how quickly it can become aggressive, seeing Bruno deteriorate over such a short amount of time is breaking my heart.

Cancer in dogs much like in humans can come at any age, specifically Lymphoma, and would you believe it’s one of the MOST common canine cancers? No me neither because there isn’t enough stuff out there telling you what to look out for until it’s too late.

The reason I’m posting today is to raise awareness of a disease, that isn’t nearly spoken about enough and to just remind people to check their dogs for lumps! Even if it means just one person checks on their dog today.
Signs of Lymphoma: Keep an eye out for enlarged lymph nodes, lethargy, loss of appetite, weakness, or weight loss.

Dogs are part of our family and we’d do anything to ensure they are getting the treatment they require in order for them to have the best, most fulfilled, pain free, short life they have🤍

L Y M P H O M A A W A R E N E S S

If you’ve been following my stories you’ll know we’ve had the most heartbreaking news. Bruno has unfortunately been diagnosed with late stages of Lymphoma. Quite frankly our absolute worst nightmare.

Bruno is 3 years old and it was the LAST thing we were expecting to hear following a pretty average vet check up.

Lots of people have asked what led us to visit the vets so I just thought I’d do a breakdown of events.

07/08 - attended the vets as he had a tick on his face, I also told the vets his eyes seemed to be a bit more red and inflamed than usual - they gave us antibacterial wipes to clean his eyes and said to keep an eye on it.

10/09 - we went back to the vets as his eyes weren’t getting any better and we’re now very red and swollen. I also mentioned to the vets I had noticed he had lumps on either side of his neck almost felt like tonsils.

12/09 - we re-attended the vets with Bruno heavily sedated so they could run tests on the lumps in his throat. Whilst he was sedated they found lumps in his shoulder and at the back of his knees in his back legs.

13/09 - we received his blood test results, everything came back perfect, his white blood cells were a tiny bit high but nothing alarming.

17/09 - we got the dreaded call from the vets confirming every single lymph node they ran tests on was positive for lymphoma, they also said the liquid in his eyes came back positive showing that it was spreading at a rapid rate.

Chemotherapy wasn’t an option for Bruno as he needs to be heavily sedated to get bloods which they would need to do up to 3x a week and we didn’t want to see our boy sedated and not himself.

We’ve decided to put him on steroids to make him more comfortable and reduce the size of his lymph nodes to hopefully improve his quality of life for the limited time that we have left with him. No, it was not an easy decision but we chose quality of his life over anything

I just want to thank everyone for their kind words during this time and we’ve been completely overwhelmed with the amount of support we’ve had, just a gentle reminder to check your dog for lumps too like we do ourselves🤍

🌼 M E E T H E I D I 🌼

Any guesses for what mix she is, we’re racking our brains and can’t figure it out!

Heidi is a 1 year old rescue who came over to the UK when she was 5 months old.

Heidi is reactive towards joggers and bikes and goes into stalking mode whenever she sees someone on a bike, it’s a struggle to regain her attention.

During our first lesson we conditioned Heidi to a slip collar in order for there to be more directional reinforcement. We ensured she had a clear understanding of leash pressure and what’s the ‘pressure and release’ system is. We will use this system to counter condition her and change her reaction towards things that may trigger her.

Our main aim is to go from bark and lunge at triggers to walk calmly with a loose lead and ignore the trigger.

Heidi absolutely smashed her first lesson with us, and her owner is already seeing results proving she had massive potential! I can’t wait to see this girls confidence grow💫

Firstly can we just appreciate how GORGEOUS this boy is!?

Nelson is a 10 month old Rottweiler here for 1-2-1 training. He’s been showing signs of being a bit nervous when being petted and his owner wanted to nip it in the bud before it got any worse.

His owner has already done an amazing job working through his resource guarding and his trust through hand feeding so there’s already some amazing foundations there!

I’m really excited to see this little guy grow and help him recover from any nervousness and insecurities he has.

🐻 M E E T O Z Z Y 🐻

Ozzy is a stunning 1 yr old sable cocker spaniel here for 1-2-1 training.

Ozzy can get easily distracted on walks and doesn’t often engage with his owner so we’ll be working on handler engagement and hand feeding.

Ozzy often has selective hearing when it comes to recall too, so we’ll be starting from scratch with the foundations of recall ensuring he fully understands what’s expected of him when his owner says COME.

He’s already made some amazing progress after our first lesson I can’t wait for this joy to have full off leash freedom in the near future 💫

🪁 M E E T B A I L E Y 🪁

Bailey is a 3 yr old rescue lab here for walk and trains. He can pull like a train and has explosive reactions to other dogs that are passing him whether that’s on the same path or on the other side of the road.

We will be working a lot on his loose lead walking and naturally around other dogs eventually progressing to him coming along to our group walks where we do lots of work on head on passes around dogs in close proximity.

(Swipe for a nose boop 🥺)

Lettie is a 9 month old rescue staffie cross, we don’t know much about her back story other than she was found on the streets of London wondering alone with no chip, thankfully her owners scooped her right up from the dog rescue as soon as she became available for rehoming 🥰

Lettie will be with us for walk and trains in order to put in basic foundation training focusing mainly on loose lead walking and recall. We will also be working on her neutrality around other dogs.

I’m very excited to see Letties progress in the coming weeks 💫

🚨 M E E T S O L O 🚨

Solo is a 2 yr old Belgian Malinois here for 1-2-1 lessons.

She wasn’t very well socialised as a puppy and didn’t know how to act around other dogs, she tends to fixate and stare. The owner is now focusing a lot on engagement and neutrality in different environments so they’re able to compete in agility competitions in the future.

During our first lesson we switched Solo from a harness over to a Grot collar in order to give her more directional reinforcement we also introduced a heel command.

By the end of our first lesson Solo was able to disengage from other dogs on her own accord and walk nicely on a lead without pulling. She could also recognise when she was out of her heel position and checked in with her handler to put herself back in position.

She’s made such amazing progress in one session I can’t wait to see her excel 💫

🌷M E E T P I P P I N 🌷

Pippin is a 1.5 yr old Hungarian vizsla here for 1-2-1 lessons and to join our group walks.

Pips can be quite vocal when she can’t get close enough to greet a dog and struggles to sit and settle without barking.

During our first session we were able condition Pips to a grot collar, she was walking nicely and remaining engaged with her owner. By the end of the session she could sit and settle next to Bruno without barking or showing too much interest! She was also able to walk around Bruno look at him and re-engage with her owner straight after. Super proud of this little girl and how quick she picked up what was expected of her!

I look forward to seeing her proof all of her new behaviours around lots of different dogs and environments on our group walks 🤩

💰M E E T E S C O 💰

Esco is here as part of our puppy program. Esco is quite possibly the sweetest Cane Corso I’ve ever met! With paws too big to function!
He’s currently 19 weeks old and is set to be a security dog at a protection firm.
His owners have already done a fantastic job with building a strong relationship with him and his confidence in different environments!
We’ll be working on his foundation training to ensure all of his obedience is bomb proof before he goes into protection work.
He’s already showing amazing willingness to learn, he’s super confident and stable around strange dogs and people. I can’t wait to see this little pup grow 💫

Coco is a 7 month old Cane Corso here for 1-2-1 training. She’s had a pretty rough first part of her life caged with 3 other dogs. Thankfully she was rescued and is now in her forever home thriving! We’ll be working on building up her confidence around people and basic obedience. She’s such a lovely pup and will happily give love to anyone if they offer it.

Can’t wait to see how much her personality opens up💜

🏀 T I T O 🏀

I have the absolute pleasure of looking after Tito for the next 2 weeks.

Tito was one of my first clients when I first started my business. It’s amazing to see how much much he’s progressed since our first lesson. When I take him out now it’s weird to think he was ever explosively human and dog reactive. His owners have done an incredible job at ensuring his obedience is, and always will be, rock solid.

I absolutely adore this boy, he’s a dream to walk and has an incredibly loving personality🧡
