Plenty of toys and treats for your pets this Christmas ❄️🐾 we are open til 3pm on Friday this week ❄️✨
We recently had a case of suspected permethrin poisoning☢️
Technically they should be safe for use in cats but in this case the cat had managed to chew at the collar. Signs to look out for include:
• Excessive salivation/drooling
• Restlessness
• Vomiting
• Incoordination or difficulty jumping, standing or walking
• Shaking/twitching
• Tremors
• Seizures
• Dyspnea (difficulty breathing)
• Hypothermia
❌ Toxicity can be fatal for cats if not treated urgently ❌
In this case this cat was given a bath, she was incredibly well behaved and enjoyed cuddles in the towel afterwards. She has since gone on to make a full recovery ❤
🆘 Please avoid flea and tick treatments that are available in supermarkets / very cheaply available online. These can often be ineffective; we get a lot of clients calling who have used one of these products and have ended up with a flea infestation in their house! This is a false economy and ends up with itchy pets and stressed-out owner(s).
💰It is well worth investing in quality products that you can trust will do the job properly. If you have any questions about the right flea/tick/worming schedule for your pet please get in touch or speak to the vet at your pets next appointment. We recommend to ALWAYS read the packet leaflet before use.
🤓Also be aware that some products that are used in dog flea and tick treatment can be extremely toxic to cats. If you use a spot-on treatment on your dogs and there are cats in the house, make sure it has fully dried before allowing your cat to be in contact with your dog.
