Does your horse struggle with Sweet Itch? 🐎

💉We have been successfully using the Insol Dermaphyton vaccine at St Boniface Equine Vets to reduce the severity of sweet itch signs.

A course of 2 injections, given 2 weeks apart, is required before the midge season starts (ideally February/March). The effect is also thought to be cumulative, so improved results are likely year on year.

Meet Layla, a 13 year old mare who developed significant forelimb lameness. Layla's owner brought her into the practice where where were able to use our state-of-the-art imaging equipment to diagnose the issue and provide targeted treatment. She went home the same day for rest and recuperation.

We recently had the lovely Strawberry visiting us to have two teeth removed. 🦷

Stuart Altoft, RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Equine Dentistry came to our new, purpose built facilities to perform the procedure. Swipe to follow Strawberry's procedure below. 👇

Strawberry’s owners had noticed that she was struggling to eat and had a swelling on the side of her face. It was found that she had a loose tooth and another in the wrong position that was causing discomfort. Stuart did a great job removing both of the affected teeth and Strawberry is now much happier. 🐎

What a fabulous day at Chagford Show thank you to everyone who came and saw us! 🚜🐄🐴

We were very pleased to see one of our clients, Dawley Dave and his owner Terry. Dave is a Suffolk Punch, a critically endangered breed and was competing in the heavy horse class today.

It’s his first ever show and we think he looks fantastic! ✨
