I have made the decision to close the salon this afternoon and also tomorrow afternoon due to the extreme temperatures as your dogs welfare is my top priority. Everyone affected has been contacted but if you have any concerns, please feel free to message me π
And on that note here are some fun, top tips for keeping cool π
πΎ Try encourage your dogs to stay in shaded area if they must be outside but preferably keep them inside.
πΎ Use cool mats (or a damp towel as an alternative) for them to lie on, they will enjoy cooling their belly down.
πΎ Have lots of fresh, cold water readily available, have multiple bowls out of you can. If your dog is not much of a drinker try making it fun.
In the video you can see Iβve added frozen peas to the water to encourage Elsie to bob for them.
πΎ Exercise them in different ways, engage in water play, such as using a sprinkler or pool. Or give them frozen treats such as kongs and lickimats to mentally tire them out.
πΎ Avoid walking, particularly in the mid-day sun, although temperatures are set to be highest this evening. If you must walk your dog; do it early in the morning or late in the evening, check the pavement with you palm before you go, keep walks short and try to stick to the shade.
Most importantly enjoy the sun, keep hydrated and stay safe! π
