When you love what you do no day feels like work, however physically or mentally demanding. A blissful day with new life, kissing calves, getting covered in muck and you can't forget the one and only Jack the collie.

After the recent BBC Panorama programme on the dairy industry, I just hope that people understand that that does not depict the dairy industry as a whole! The 1% ruining it for the other 99% who do things how they should be done. Please show your support for our dairy farmers who work so hard and uphold the strictest of welfare standards so you can enjoy your morning milky coffee or that hearty bit of cheese on toast 😋.

After a discussion with a client about the fact I had not eaten anything all day (I know, I'm a fool), I came back from riding her rather stunning mare to find this box of munchy bars (other snack bars are available 😆)! An absolute life saver as I had to shoot off milking straight away so no time to get anything. Thank you Jo, your little act of kindness made my day! 😊

Wishing you all a very Happy New year.

The last year of my life has taken a complety different turn and a brand new focus. I'm looking forward to getting on and achieving the goals I have set myself, some of which will be extremely arduous, but if you don't challenge yourself you will not grow. So watch this space.

Hope you all go ahead into the new year believing in yourselves and realising that the sky is the limit. With hard work, a can do attitude and holding yourselves high you can achieve almost anything.

🐑🐑4 months I've had my original six sheep (now thirteen) and this lovely lady has gained complete confidence in me. With no dog and only me around most of the time the tamer I can get them the better! 🐑🐑

🐎How many of you have had an animal that changes your life forever? The ones you get an incredible bond with and know like the back of your hand and who knows you just as well back? Well Tanni was that special horse.

This sweet mare taught me more about the ups and downs of horse ownership than any I have owned/owe. From a shut down 4 year old, to a horse who just wanted to be with you and do anything for you. She was quite simply my very best friend for 10 years. 7 years since she passed and I still think about her everyday and shed the occasional tear.

Memories last a lifetime. Cherish your 4 legged friends. They will be there for you when no one else is...through thick and thin. 🐎❤

I love that my work is so varied! After breaking my ribs I have found simple tasks like sweeping and mucking out quite painful, but today I got back to it properly.

Back at the raceyard I do yard duties for on a Sunday dealing with some beautiful horses. Only 11 in at the minute (including a couple of sweet little ponies). The rest are shortly to come in after their summer holidays.

I love my racing and have a passion for Thoroughbreds having two ex-racers of my own. They are versatile and talented and get somewhat of a bad press. Never say never to an ex racehorse. If you are confident, willing to put in the time and are knowledgable you will have a fantastic riding horse on your hands.

Lame sheep is a common occurrence as sheep farmers know all to well. My lovely lot havent really caused me too much hassle, but one of my Shearlings was extremely lame to the point that she didnt even want to walk.

The pictures here are what I found. For those that don't know, its called strip/scald. Its caused by the bacterium Dichelobacter nodosus. The infection occurs through damage to the skin. In the case of mine it is simply the fact that the grass was a little long and rough causing friction between her toes. She had it in all 4 feet, but a bit of blue terramycin/cyclone spray from the vet and moving her to a recently topped field sorted her out in 24hrs. I was told straight away by experienced friends to always invest in the proper veterinary spray. It saves you a lot of worry and works a treat!

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I'm thoroughly enjoying the learning experience. 🤓🐑

Absolutely love having my little flock of sheep, but not wanting to put my ewe lambs to the ram this year have decided to look for some older breeding ewes who have been there done that and got the t-shirt as they say. Nothing like a bit of sheep shopping on a sunny Tuesday evening. 🐑🐑

Hope you've all been making the most of the sun, because I think we're due a few rainy days ⛈ Some much needed rain....unless of course you have hay on the ground 🙈🚜

Getting reliable individuals to look after your animals when you're on holiday is stressful and a huge worry. I'm lucky enough, and very grateful, to have some amazing people to care for my menagerie whilst I'm away.
