A lovely Saturday had with these good pups 😍
All three were washed in a coconut & oatmeal shampoo, coats deeply conditioned and skin nourished, layered brushing & combed through for a knot free coat, & lastly, scissored to style.
All 3 left, smelling of mulled orange 🍊

A before and after from Charlie’s session with me this week.
Charlie is an elderly Border Terrier. Due to their wire/rough coats, they should be handstripped, not clipped. This is because clipping a wire coat can change the coat texture- from wire to soft.
Border Terrier’s are one of many breeds that have a wire coat.
However, due to his age, patience is limited with sitting still for the duration. He also had a few warts all over his body.
This is where an exception is made when we would clip a wire coat.
Due to these factors, he had to be half stripped & the other half clipped. Handstripping was successful on his top half of his body (if you were to look from a Birds Eye view), and the lower half of the body from the top of the legs, down, had to be clipped.
This was his first time with me and he did so well, I couldn’t have asked for more. Well done Charlie 😃

And not mentioning any names, one pup decided to leave me a lovely gift on the table just after a bath 🤣 this job never ever has a dull day, and this is why I love it.

Who would believe it… today marks my 1 year anniversary since the opening of my dog grooming cabin 🥳🌟🍾

With children and pets spending more time together over the summer holidays, it's super important to watch dogs closely and listen to their body language ⚠️
Dogs' stress signals often get misunderstood or missed, with some owners not realising their dog is unhappy until they growl, snap or even bite.
The canine ladder of communication is a useful guide, showing the different signals dogs show through their body language to communicate. As a dog gets more upset, their body language may change according to the steps on the ladder 🚦
It’s important to note that all dogs are different - not every dog will show every behaviour on the ladder and might not follow the same order.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PUPPY INTRODUCTIONS
A few weeks ago, Betsy came for her first ever puppy intro at just 10 weeks old.
I don’t really need to say how well she did as you can judge from the photos.
I cannot express how important it is to book your puppy in to desensitise them to the grooming experience.
With a calm setting, patient approach, regular breaks, love & reassurance, you achieve these wonderful results of a puppy that falls asleep while they’re being scissored!!!
Betsy had a bath, gentle blow dry, & minor sc******ng around her face, eye area & bottom.
There is no such thing as ‘too young’ for a pup, as long as they have weaned off from mum, they can come in for their first appointment.
Betsy was absolutely marvellous and she’s booked in again very soon.
A day sit for Dolly & welfare checks for sweet Maxx 🐕 thank you to his family for the card & flowers- a lovely surprise 😊
2 weeks ago I had the joy of looking after Brodie again after what felt a long time ago. This time, with 2 additional animal friends.
Mum & dad went away on holiday so we had a holiday of our own. Mixing our days up with woodland walks, running in rivers, finished the week off with a trip to my salon for Brodie to have a haircut.
Puppy eyes were given when I left 🥺 See you again my little friend 🥰

R.I.P to Louise, her sister & Mother 🕊️
The grooming industry is feeling the loss of one of their own tonight. Louise Hunt was a fellow dog groomer and was killed alongside her mum and sister last night 😢
Our thoughts are with the rest of the family at this extremely sad time.

Indie the GSD. It was her first time and she did very well- I look forward to seeing her again in a few weeks time. Well done Indie!
Secondly, Cassie the collie. Again, a first experience to grooming for her, but she wasn’t fazed by anything.
As any collie owner knows, they are highly anxious dogs. It only takes one negative experience to cause problems for them.
Cassie was in desperate need to remove matts under her belly & bottom area. Her owner said she isn’t keen on water so we avoided that. However, the experience allowed her to visit the salon, sniff around and take it all in. Hoping this will allow her to have a full groom in the near future.
Lastly, sweet little Ted was in the area on holiday and he was lucky enough to have a haircut before he goes back on his travels around the southwest in his motor home!
June was a wonderful month, welcoming so many new customers, including this sweet boy- Dudley the B.C.

It’s so fascinating to watch these breeds. Billy showed signs of herding from the age of 14 weeks. The majority of the behaviours he shows in this video is eye contact from myself, with the odd verbal command.
