Some amazing progress with Zippy!!
Zippy's confidence has grown so much over the last few months so we've started to move forwards with his training. For the last couple of weeks Zippy has been learning to sit and today we got our first sit on cue. This is such a big step for Zippy as it's taken such a long time to build up his trust enough to be able to do things like this and I'm so so proud of him!!

Had my first drop in with Toby today!! After playing lots of games in the garden he fell asleep on my lap!! 😍😴

This evening I had my first session with the gorgeous Bear and Nala. Today we worked on introducing a marker and some focus and engagement exercises and both doggos did amazingly well. We split our session in half so that they could both work with me 121 with limited distractions. By the end of the session they were both responding well to a clicker and were also incredibly focussed on me and their mum during the "watch" exercise!!
Well done Bear and Nala!! 😁🐕

Maeve did absolutely brilliantly on her 121 this morning!! We started off with some calming circles to help get her nice and focused and then we moved on to introducing the "with me" cue and building up some duration to her loose lead walking. By the end of the session Maeve was doing multiple laps of the hall while focusing on and walking calmly next to her mum!! Well done Maeve and Kylie!! 😃

I had another session with Maeve this afternoon where we worked on her leaving the cats alone. Maeve is still very young and all she wants to do is play with the cats only the cats aren't too keen about this so today we used the "leave it" cue (which Maeve responds too amazingly) to build some boundaries and give the cats a bit of a break. Maeve picked this up incredibly well and by the end of the session was able to sit calmly while the cats wandered around and even when the cats came right up to her, instead of pinning them down, she looked to her mum for her reward!! 😃

Some highlights from my day today (A day of collies)!!
First I had a visit with Zippy where he greeted me at the door which was lovely!! He's still not 100% with me but my goodness has he progressed since I first met him!!
Later on this afternoon I had a walk with Meg where we worked on her recall with me as I would love to be able to let her off the lead one day but that just isn't possible at the moment as she has a bit of separation anxiety and likes to run home. Meg did really well today though, I've been using a long line with her to give her as much freedom as possible and she's been amazing with her recall practice and has also started checking in with me through our walks!!

I'm so so proud of this boy!! When I first met Zippy I wasn't able to go anywhere near him without him backing into the corner of his crate, today (with the help of some verbal encouragement) Zippy came over to me to eat treats out of my hand and then for the first time even let me give him a little stroke, this was such a big thing for Zippy as he struggles so much to trust people but it feels really amazing that he is slowly becoming more and more comfortable around me!!
Carly Dunn you should be super proud of your bootiful boy!! 🥰

This morning I had a 121 with Brandy where we worked on her loose lead walking. Brandy struggles to concentrate in busy environments so we booked the hall for her training session today. Having the whole hall to herself really helped her to get into the right state of mind for training and she did really well!!
This afternoon I had a visit with Zippy who has come on leaps and bounds since I first met him. He will now greet me with a waggy tail and a cuddle when I come in to see him which feels absolutely amazing!!

My day today!!
This morning I had a visit with Zippy where we worked on Zippy's trust with me. Although he will now take food out of my hand and follow me out to the garden, he still struggles to come near me without the comfort of his crate nearby. As you can see I laid out a trail of cheese and chicken from his crate to around half a meter away from me I then looked away from him as he still finds eye contact uncomfortable. At first Zippy couldn't make it to the end of the trail but after a few attempts and lots of breaks in between he managed to reach the big pile of cheese and chicken at the end!!
This afternoon I had a visit with Bryher the Labradoodle which I brought Otto to as they know each other well, please enjoy this photo of Otto putting on his biggest smile whilst Bryher is looking very serious 😂

Here are some videos of Zippy from our visits yesterday and today. It is pretty amazing what he has achieved over the last couple of days!!
Yesterday (with the help of a cheese trail) Zippy followed me out into the garden for the first time since meeting him, he then came out again with me multiple times during our visit completely of his own accord!!
Today Zippy did this again and was even a little more relaxed about it than yesterday. Not only this but we also worked on Zippy coming over to me and taking treats out of my hand as he is still very nervous about this but as you can see in the third video Zippy managed to come all the way out of his crate to come and eat some cheese out of my hand!! Also, rather than taking the cheese out of my hand and then going straight back to his crate (which he has been doing previously), today he actually took the first lot of cheese and then looked to me for more which is just amazing!!!!
Quick side note - yes that was me walking straight into a pipe on the side of the house in the first video (you can tell because the camera shakes and Zippy jumps - sorry puppy), I was too busy filming Zippy that I forgot to look where I was going 🤣

I had another visit with Zippy today and for the past couple of visits I have been bringing Otto with me as Zippy is much more confident when other dogs are present. Since bringing Otto, Zippy has made some amazing progress with me. Not only has he been venturing further out of his crate to give Otto a sniff but he has also been coming out of his crate to take treats from my hand and I have also noticed that he has started looking from my treat pouch up to me as if he is asking for treats. As well as all this I have also noticed that although he is still tense, Zippy's body language is becoming more and more relaxed with each visit which is just amazing!!
(Also I had to mute the video as all you can hear is Otto munching very loudly in the background 😂)

This is Zippy who is a very nervous Romanian Rescue!
Zippy's owners came to me as they needed someone to visit Zippy while they are out during the day. I first met Zippy and his owners yesterday where I spent about 40 minutes with him trying to build up his confidence and improve his fear threshold. Yesterday I was able to go from placing a treat in front of him in his crate, walking to the other side of the room, sitting on the floor and looking away from him (before he would eat the treat) to sitting next to him in his crate, placing a treat in front of him and looking away from him (before he would eat the treat) which I thought was amazing considering just how nervous he was!
During my visit today I decided to try to build on this and even though to many his progress seems small to me I couldn't be happier with what we achieved today!
Initially I continued with the same exercise as I did yesterday and then I decided to switch it up a bit and see if I could try and get him to come out of his crate at all so as you'll see in the first video I started by placing a pile of cheese and chicken just outside the crate and then sitting on the floor at the other side of the room and looking away from him (eye contact makes Zippy even more anxious), I then slowly increased the distance of the treats from the crate. You'll also notice that at the end of the first video Zippy begins to hiccup which is when I decided to finish with this exercise as this is often a sign that the dog is getting stressed.
The other two videos show me continuing one of the exercises from yesterday. I then decided to build on this and see if he would take food out of my hand which surprisingly he did and I couldn't be happier with him!
Although Zippy is still incredibly nervous around me, his progress from yesterday to today is truly amazing and I am hopeful that we can continue to build on this and become the best of friends!!
