Horses can experience variety of eye problems, including uveitis or equine recurrent uveitis (ERU or moon-blindness if it occurs more than twice).

This is a painful inflammation of the uvea, one of the layers in the eye, which creates a spasm or cramp of the internal muscles that pull the horse’s pupil into a slit.

It is the most common cause of blindness in the horse worldwide and early signs can be relatively subtle, including:

Tearing
Squinting
Cloudiness

Early intervention from a vet if your horse shows any signs of a painful eye can be key to recovery and reduce the risk of further recurrence. You can read more about signs to look out for and potential medical treatments in our blog post on the subject:

We’ll soon tell you about the really effective treatment we use for dermatitis 🐝 But today we wanted to tell you about 𝑷𝒉𝒚𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒎 which is a really essential soothing cream to have in your grooming trunk👌🏻 It’s this cream that we apply to the tip of the buttock.

🌼 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 :
Phytobalm is a soothing cream for small wounds and irritations. It offers antifungal and antibacterial protection for horses but also for dogs and cats! Practical, isn’t it?

Canine allergies are prevalent, primarily manifesting as skin irritation or digestive issues.

Common signs of allergies in dogs include:

🌱 Skin itchiness (localized or widespread)
🫁 Respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, eye/nose discharge)
🐶 Gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea or vomiting)

Allergies typically develop in dogs over six months old, with most affected animals being over two years of age. Some allergies are believed to have a genetic component, with certain breeds showing higher susceptibility.

For instance, atopic dermatitis is particularly common in West Highland White Terriers.
