⚠️It has been brought to our attention that there is a newly released film titled 'Anatomy of a Fall' (Original title: Anatomie d'une chute) that is currently being screened in cinemas across the UK⚠️

During the film, a dog is intentionally administered human medications and then subsequently given salt water to induce vomiting.

We want to stress how dangerous this can be to animals.

These methods can cause further toxicity, which may worsen the animal's condition and can lead to severe effects.

Inducing vomiting should ONLY be carried out by a veterinary professional in a safe environment where the animal's condition can be monitored, should any complications arise.

Can we please have a revolution in the pet food industry where Chicken is not the go to protein. So many dogs cannot tolerate chicken.
I have a gorgeous Sharpei by the name of Ralph who has sensitivity to so many things. It's an absolute nightmare trying to find suitable foods for him.
I'm sure we are not alone in these frustrations.

Lots of writing on a slide but lots to say!!!

Bland diet = chicken and rice and has done since before I can remember… 25+ years working within the veterinary industry and this is ALWAYS the advice.

But we know chicken allergy is a thing for dogs! Their diarrhoea may get 10 x worse when fed it. We know rice isn’t very well digested by dogs, we know we can do better, but we still spout off the same advice like a cold wet nose means they’re healthy, because it’s comfortable and been around for ages!

Let’s change, let’s move forward and be better together. Because that means we will do better for our animals. I have more tips to share tonight that’ll hopefully break the comfortable mind set ❤️

⭐A-Z of pet poisoning - I⭐

Ibuprofen is a very widely available over-the-counter painkiller. Although well tolerated in people, dogs are very sensitive to ibuprofen and ingestion of even a relatively low dose can cause adverse effects on the gut and the kidneys. A large overdose can even cause very rapid onset features including convulsions. Unfortunately, ibuprofen ingestion in dogs is very common, reflecting its ready availability in the home.

Never give your pet ibuprofen and always keep this medicine out of their reach.

Welcome again to the Yellow Dog UK wonderful world of common sense. Would you go up to a stranger in the street and give her a hug or stick your hand in their face? Well I wouldn't but it happens all to often unfortunately with dogs .... What do you do when you can see someone approaching you and your dog?

As the weather heats up, it's important to know the signs to look out for of a heat-realted illness in your dog. This includes:

✅ Excessive panting that doesn’t stop when the dog rests
✅ Difficulty breathing, especially if there is unusual noise or any blue/grey tinge to gums or tongue
✅ Unusual tiredness - becoming tired sooner than normal
✅ Changes in behaviour - lying down more frequently and stumbling
✅ Less keen to play

Dogs can’t cool themselves down as easily as we can as they’re unable to sweat like us. Instead, they mainly use panting to keep cool. Coupled with their thick fur (which is like wearing an insulated coat!), this can make them prone to overheating. 🌡️ It’s important to do all we can to keep our furry friends cool, to prevent serious illnesses such as heatstroke 🐶☀️

As the hot weather approaches, make sure you're ahead of the game with our top tips on how to keep your dog cool in summer. See the full guide here: http://pdsa.me/D4PQ
