Kobe has been with us for two weeks now and is already showing fantastic progress.

He originally joined us due to over-excitement, unreliable recall, pulling on the lead, struggling to hold positions such as sit and down, jumping up at people, and wanting to greet every dog he saw.

We’ve been working on building his neutrality, engagement, calmness, and overall obedience and he’s coming along brilliantly.

He is now fully off-lead, conditioned to the e-collar, and becoming neutral around other dogs. We still have a few bits to work on, but I’m really happy with the progress he’s made so far.

Controversial? Sure. Effective? Always. The E-collar isn’t about punishment, it’s about giving dogs freedom, safety, and a life time off-lead. It builds trust and creates a better relationship between dog and owner. Results will always matter more than opinions.

This boy has started his puppy foundation sessions. Kangals are a guardian breed originally bred to protect livestock, which means it’s very natural for them to show reactivity towards people and other animals. It’s instinct, not “naughtiness.”

Because of this, it’s crucial to put in the right structure, social exposure, and boundaries from the very start. At this stage we’re focusing on:
✅ Building engagement with his handler
✅ Creating neutrality around people & dogs
✅ Confidence in new environments

Guardian breeds can be amazing, loyal companions, but only when their instincts are understood and channelled properly from puppyhood.

Lesson with handsome boy Zeus 5 month old Rottie x American Bulldog.

We worked on building handler engagement and started conditioning him to the Grot collar. Also introduced some neutrality work around another dog, as he tends to get overly excited, loses focus when another dog is nearby, lunging and barking to get to it.
